‘Therefore I Am’ – Billie Eilish

Today is a good day, friends because our queen Billie Eilish has (finally) dropped a new tune! ‘Therefore I Am’ is a soft and grungy track to have you feeling like your best bad bitch self this weekend and we’re absolutely in love. From heavy-hitting synth rhythms to Eilish’s distinct voice, it’s a song that hits the spot. And the video? We’ve gone feral for it. After all, who wouldn’t want to run around an empty mall and eat all the food in sight?!?

‘回:Walpurgis Night’ – GFRIEND

GFRIEND are back with a new album and has Buddy super stoked! It has quite the club-friendly, high energy feel about it with title track ‘MAGO’ harboring very disco feels as it sings about reaching the point of happiness with the person you are. ‘Three of Cups’ and ‘GRWM’ also have quite big pop vibes that are screaming out to be curated into party playlists and are sure to get you up off your feet. The album ends their current storyline on a high and we are loving the girl power tones in the lyrics. We are truly feeling ourselves listening to this beaut of an album!

‘Heart-Shaped Box’ – Ashton Irwin

The tremble of Ashton Irwin‘s voice is chilling. We’ve really gotten the 5-star treatment lately hearing much of his range and ability. We must say though, this cover is something more. There’s a beauty in seeing what artists other artists choose to cover and how they do it. Whether you’re a casual fan of Nirvana or invested in the genius of their grunge explosion ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ is aching. Ashton adds an extra sting and a whole lot of beauty to his cover with each guitar pluck feeling meticulously and carefully done. His love of the song shines through. Check out Ashton Irwin’s cover of ‘Heart-Shaped Box’, you may not have known, but you need it in your life.

‘Holiday’ – Lil Nas X

Rap king Lil Nas X is getting us revved up for Christmas this week with his track ‘Holiday’. If you’re on the lookout for a Christmas single with a twist then Lil Nas X is serving the goods! Gone are the jingle bells and cheesy melodies that we associate with a good old Christmas tune, in their place are beats and vibes galore. Alongside this stand-alone hit single, the music video is trippy and visually stunning. You’ll be able to catch us atbgroovin’ to this track for weeks to come!

‘Problems’ – Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie is back this week with a new hit tune ‘Problems’ but we can’t find any about this song! From her honey-smooth vocals to the calming electric guitar or the way the chorus really does go there, it’s a track that is simply beautiful. The lyrics also have us right up in our feels over the sweet confessions of love that make us believe there’s someone out there for us too! If you want to be uplifted this weekend then ‘Problems’ is the tune to play on repeat.

Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 2 – Taemin

KPOP veteran Taemin is back with the second installment of his series Never Gonna Dance Again and we are living for it. Introducing fans to five new tracks plus four songs which were featured in his second solo concert back in March 2019, the Seoul native delivers a chilled R&B trap beat with an explosive chorus in title track ‘Idea.’ There’s some big production on this record, with songs like the fan-favorite ‘Heaven’ harboring some theatrically chilling choral arrangements, and heavy synth on ‘Impressionable.’ In addition to Act 1, Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 2 solidifies Taemin as an established artist and an idol who has truly made his mark in the industry.

Hey u x – Benee

If you’re not on the Benee hype train by now then her debut album Hey u x will have you begging to jump on! Every time we listen to a new Benee tune we just fall a little more in love with her voice. Having released a string of singles through the year, we’re over the moon that we’ve finally been able to listen to the full record and we’re sure you’ll love it too. Our favs include ‘Happen To Me’, ‘A Little While’ and ‘Kool’ although the last is partly because of the awesome Sims inspired music video. Already had a listen? We can’t wait to hear what your fav tracks are too!

‘Blueberry Eyes (Remix)’ – MAX ft SUGA & Steve Aoki

World-renowned DJ Steve Aoki has hopped on the remix ‘Blueberry Eyes’ by MAX featuring SUGA to give it a retro techno beat with added synths, making the fan-favorite track festival-friendly and will be sure to get crowds vibing (or you in your bedroom amid the pandemic.) Aoki gives the song a new feel but keeps the sentiment behind it intact and honestly we are in love.

Young Dumb Thrills – McFly

British rockers McFly are here to give us a trip down memory lane this week with their latest record Young Dumb Thrills. This is a band that have pop-rock down to an absolute T and this record is just another example of their musical supremacy! If you have a soft spot for all things electric guitar, bass, and drums then this will be a record that you’ll quickly become obsessed with. Some of our favorite tunes are ‘Growing Up’ ft Mark Hoppus, ‘Sink or Sing’, and ‘Wild and Young’. Whatever kind of mood you’re in, this is a record that’s sure to put you in better spirits so you can catch us cranking up the volume as the nights get longer and darker!

‘Feel the Thunder’ – HAIM

Pop queens HAIM are on a genre bend this week with their new track ‘Feel The Thunder’. Written for the new movie The Croods: A New Age, it takes everything hardcore about the stone-age to produce a banging tune! Every time we listen to the drums and guitars we get transported away to the rock shows we’ve been missing. But one of our other favorite things about this track is just how well HAIM’s voices suit it and we just hope we get to see more hardcore HAIM in the near future!

‘Like Rain, Like Music’ – Kyuhyun

In celebration of Kim Hyun-Sik’s 30th anniversary, Super Junior‘s Kyuhyun has recorded a cover of the song ‘Like Rain, Like Music’ for the 30th-anniversary tribute album. Bringing the track into the 21st century, Kyuhyun’s delivers a soft piano rendition with his silvery vocals, full of dreamy vibes that has us completely swooning. We may have two left feet, but in our imaginations, we’re gliding across the dancefloor with a partner to this sweet symphonic song.

‘Fly Away’ – Tones & I

The Aussies are killing the game this week and Tones & I is no exception! Her upbeat and soulful tune ‘Fly Away’ is the hope fuelled music we needed this Fresh Music Friday. Choral lines in the melody and the soft strumming of acoustic guitar give this track a cinematic feel. In fact, one of our favorite things is how it makes you feel like the main character in a coming of age film! If that’s not your style then the music video is equally as stunning when it comes to the visuals. All round, it’s a track we just can’t get enough of!

‘Resilient (Remix)’ – Katy Perry ft Aitana & Tiësto

On the hunt for a remix to break out some dance moves to this Fresh Music Friday? Never fear, Katy Perry, Aitana and Tiesto have you all covered with a remix of ‘Resilient’. We fell head over heels in love with the track when it was first released on Perry’s record Smile and we’ve fallen even more in love with it now. Couple stunning vocal melodies from both Katy Perry and Aitana with the brilliant rework of the instrumental by Tiesto and you’ll find that this is one fiery hot tune!

What’s not to love about two country queens joining forces? Kelsea Ballerini and Shania Twain teamed up to perform at the CMA Awards and now their rework of ‘Hole in the Bottle’ is available to stream! We just can’t get over how catchy the beat and rhythm to this song is, ever since we hit play we’ve had the chorus stuck in our heads but we’re not mad about it in the slightest. While we’re waiting to be able to team up with our own friends for a big dance party, we’ll be groovin’ away in our kitchens to this absolute banger!

‘Attraction’ – Eric Nam & NAEUN

Eric Nam and April’s Naeun have joined forces with Bunny and Guys for a dreamy song as part of the webtoon’s OST. The duet is pure serenity and has us feeling total fluff as the pair sing about that squishy fluttery feeling of falling in love. If you’re currently in the honeymoon stage of a relationship, we highly recommend adding this to your playlist to create your own soundtrack to your super sweet romance. Don’t mind us as we eat ice cream and wish we had that kinda thing going on right now. It’s fine, we’re fine.

It’s time to put on your ugly holiday sweater and get festive because Kelly Clarkson has just dropped a Christmas cover! Taking on the Vince Vance & the Valiants song ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ (which was released 5 years before Mariah’s hit of the same name) Kelly has us feeling super cozy as we imagine spending time with those we simp over during the holiday season.
