We are loving the nostalgia that CNCO are putting into our lives with their latest album, Déjà Vu. And with their third single drop ahead of its release, we got the legendary hit ‘Hero!’
Made known by the King of Latin Pop, Enrique Iglesias, ‘Hero’ is a track you can start singing in any country and someone will most likely know the lyrics; it’s just that iconic. The fact that CNCO is helping it live on forever by giving their rendition of it is amazing, as it pays perfect homage to the original! And when we say we got literal heart eyes after watching the music video, we mean it.
Just like their previous singles, ‘Tan Enamorados,’ and ‘Mis Ojos Lloran Por Ti,’ the music video for ‘Hero’ mirrors a video of boybands past. This time, the group took inspiration from the Backstreet Boys ‘Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely.’ From black and white shots on an empty bus driving in the rain to long black coats as the group sings on an empty late-night street. They nailed it to a Tee.
The rework of this 2001 global hit is also CNCO’s first fully English recorded song, making this a big achievement for the group, as they hopefully cross over to another group of fans! Helping them be seen in a more mainstream media, CNCO will also be performing ‘Hero’ on Good Morning America on Monday!
We can’t wait to watch their performance, but until then, best believe this is on repeat as we fantasize about CNCO “taking away all our pain.” Yes, we’re crying in the corner, just keep walking.
