Dixie stans, our moment is here, we finally have a full-length album to gush over! It’s rare that you get to see an artist’s journey from the very, very beginning like we have with Dixie, so we’re having a moment filled with so much pride that a letter to me is ours for listening. You can so clearly hear the maturity in both Dixie’s lyrics and voice from when she first started – it’s a beautiful thing to witness, and we’re so glad we are along for the ride! This album is going to hit completely different when we catch Dixie D’Amelio on the road with our guys, Big Time Rush!
So many of us can relate to being so into someone, but them having an ex-significant other that they swear they’re over. Well, Dixie is over it, and so are we! The whole message of ‘Girlfriend’ is calling for some accountability, plus, ‘Girlfriend’ is an absolute jam.
There was no way we could talk about a letter to me and not mention ‘Be Happy.’ ‘Be Happy’ completely catapulted Dixie D’Amelio out of being known as a TikTok star and into full-on pop stardom, as she deserves! There’s a stigma surrounding “internet personalities” releasing music, but when you’re making pop music at this level, there’s no denying the talent.
‘Shoulda Known Better’
‘Shoulda Known Better’ takes the cake as our favorite track on a letter to me. Realizing how blind you were because of love, and that you’re responsible for some of your own heartbreak, takes a lot of maturity to figure out. ‘Shoulda Known Better’ shows that Dixie has reached that point. And can put into a perfect pop song!
‘Fallout’ is the most sonically different track on the record, making it a clear standout. We love seeing this direction Dixie took to a more “head in the clouds” atmospheric kinda tone. Visuals for ‘Fallout’ have so much potential, we are going to need a music video ASAP!
‘On Your Toes’
Okay, we officially need the tour to start, we have to hear ‘On Your Toes’ live! The chant-like chorus makes for a song we couldn’t help but put on our list. ‘On Your Toes’ is sure to get stuck in your head even after just one listen.
