Hailee Steinfeld has always been one of those celebs who comes off as really honest and down to earth. Her chilled-back, friendly vibe is reflected in the lyrics of this summery single. She’s wearing her heart out for everyone to see and surrendering to the motion of the ocean, whichever way it wants to take this relationship!

Oh, you know we love a little bit of Anderson .Paak. So does Hailee and we’re so glad this collab has come about! We can’t say we would’ve seen this coming but the vibe of the song lends perfectly to both of their individual styles and has created some collaborative magic. Even Anderson thinks so!
Hailee is a good friend and I was already a fan of her work on the big screen, but when she played me ‘Coast’ I was honestly in shock at how fire it was! You don’t hear too many pop records with an infectious groove like that. It’s a great summer song and I think our voices surprisingly blend together really well.

The Instrumental Is So Summery
The instrumental on this track just transports you to a warm summer breeze. We feel like we’re coasting with Hailee on a perfect summer evening. The electric guitar has a real groove in its rhythm and is reminiscent of Californian music, vaguely 70s-inspired. Hailee has said she drew inspiration from the music she grew up listening to with her family as a native Californian, and we can definitely hear those influences mixed in with the familiar modern pop sounds.
The Aesthetics Are Incredible
We love seeing artists get creative and interweave specific aesthetics all the way through their creative campaigns. Hailee has such a strong Californian, beachy vibe going from the lyric video above to the single artwork and the promotional photos. They are all absolutely stunning!
We mean, how much better suited could these visuals be? They scream ‘Coast’ and California in every detail. The coast shimmering in the background, chilling in the car with the top down, the warm afternoon glow on Hailee‘s skin, and the laid-back but beautifully embroidered jeans. We love every bit of it.
