3 Currently-Airing Thai BLs You Should Be Watching

Binge-watching TV shows is probably our favorite hobby on a chill weekend. But tuning in every week and waiting in excitement—or angst—between each episode gives us a different kind of thrill! Whether you are up for a more serious plot fighting through a painful past, or just looking for some giggles and butterflies, we have some recommendations for you. Here are three currently airing Thai BL dramas we at The Honey Pop have been watching recently!

180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us

We haven’t seen such a cinematic BL in a while (we are looking at you, ITSAY, and IPYTM 👀). The whole story revolves around three main characters. Wang (played by Pond Ponlawit Ketprapakorn) has a close but complicated relationship with her mother, Sasiwimol (played by Mam Kathaleeya McIntosh). When the two unexpectedly reunite with her old friend, Inthawut (Nike Nitidon Pomsuwan), the heart-wrenching past starts to unfold. It’s definitely not going to be your easy Sunday afternoon watch. But it’s worth the emotions and every second of your time.

Wang is a lot more mature than he should be at his age (cheers to childhood traumas 🙃), but will his persistence and worldview will be able to free characters from their own prison? Their story is portrayed in a mesmerizing way. You can see Punnasak Sukee’s modern theatrical background in both his screenwriting and directing. Down to every dialogue and even the unspoken words, the colors and compositions he uses are all filled with meaning. And let’s just say we’ll never look at chopsticks the same way again—once you get to episode 6, you’ll understand why.

Love in The Air

Okay, here’s an easier watch to relax your mind and feel some butterflies. Love in The Air definitely follows some of the more common BL tropes: two university besties falling in love with their dominant seniors who also happen to be best friends. So far, the storyline focuses on Rain🌧 (played by Noeul Nuttarat Tangwai), who is dedicated to making Phayu🌪 (played by Boss Chaikamon Sermsongwittaya) fall in love with him. Without realizing he’s doing exactly what Phayu wants him to do. Their connection is full of teasing and great chemistry.

But we are already in love with Sky☁️ (played by Peat Wasuthorn Chaijinda) as well. His sassy character makes us want to be best friends with him too! Although we still have to wait for a few more episodes to have him in the spotlight with Prapai🌬 (played by Fort Thitipong Sengngai), we are excited. And also wondering what is waiting for us after the calm before the storm… Love in The Air is currently airing on Thursdays. Just letting you know if you decide to tune in with us 👀

The Eclipse

With this show, we’re given a prestigious boy school with excessive control and rules to follow. And a curse rumored to come after those who rebel when the eclipse is coming. Our main couple is Akk (played by First Kanaphan Puitrakul), the school’s head student prefect, and the mysterious new kid Ayan (played by Khaotung Thanawat), who transferred to the school with an ulterior motive: to find out who or what pushed his uncle, an ex-teacher at the school, to suicide.

The story is quite complex and suspenseful. And if you haven’t read the novel —which by the way, was written by Prapt, who also wrote the other great BL The Miracle of Teddy Bear — you will be just as anxious as we are to see how it will eventually unfold. We do like a good mystery, but we are also very much enjoying the relationship between the two leads. They are not unnecessarily fluffy, but there are still some sweet moments and the tension is there from the beginning. That being said, no clichés of an accidental kiss or forced moments: you are also up for the warmest and most genuine first kiss we’ve seen in a while. Which happens only after trust and mutual comfort are gradually built up between the two.
