Since the release of her critically acclaimed albums MOTOMAMI in 2022 and EL MAL QUERER in 2018, Rosalia has firmly solidified herself as a pop icon. From her flawless discography to her interviews, we at THP absolutely adore every single thing that she does. So, to celebrate one of our all-time favorite artists, we’re here to round up some of our personal favorite Rosalía moments!
Getting Eight Latin GRAMMY Nominations
Rosalía is constantly making history and the 2022 Latin GRAMMY Awards are no exception. After the immense commercial and critical success of MOTOMAMI, Rosalía has gained an impressive eight award nominations and we couldn’t be more proud. These nominations include the Best Album of the Year, the Best Song of the Year for ‘Hentai,’ and the Best Recording of the Year for ‘La Fama.’ These nominations make Rosalía both one of the most nominated artists of the year and the most nominated female artist of the year. We have no choice but to stan!
The Entire MOTOMAMI Album
Featuring sixteen flawless tracks, MOTOMAMI is easily one of our favorite albums of the year. The ambitious album features and draws on a variety of genres and influences, including reggaeton, experimental pop, flamenco, and hip-hop. Lyrically, the album largely focuses on topics such as sexuality, isolation, and self-respect, with the album’s title being in honor of her mother. The album is incredibly unique and reflects Rosalía’s distinct music style perfectly. While we love every song on the album, our personal favorites are ‘Saoko,’ ‘Chicken Teryaki,’ ‘BIZCOCHITO,’ and ‘La Fama.’ We seriously can’t recommend it highly enough.
Her Chicken Shop Date Appearance
Chicken Shop Date is a YouTube series that features a variety of celebrities going on “dates” in British chicken shops with Amelia Dimoldenberg, the show’s endearingly-awkward host and creator. The show has featured numerous artists such as Jack Harlow, YUNGBLUD, Charli XCX, and Keke Palmer, and we were absolutely ecstatic when we found out that Rosalía was going to be a guest. Amelia and Rosalía discussed all things love, British snacks, and the meaning behind the word “motomami.” This interview is definitely essential viewing for any Rosalía fan!
Her Narration Of The ‘Adore You’ Music Video
Now, you may not know this, but Rosalia actually featured in Harry Styles‘ ‘Adore You’ music video. The video depicts Harry’s life on the fictional island of Eroda and his adorable friendship with a washed-up fish that he rescues, with Rosalía beautifully narrating. As well as being labelmates, Rosalía and Harry are actually really good friends and have spoken highly of each other in multiple interviews. Hopefully, we’ll see them collaborate again in the future!
‘BIZCOCHITO’ Live
Rosalía recently went viral on social media after her live performance of ‘BIZCOCHITO,’ a playful chiptune song that makes us feel like we’re inside a video game. Lyrically, the song confronts all of the criticisms that Rosalía has faced throughout her career in a manner that is sarcastic and witty. When performing this song, Rosalía takes on a sassy and powerful stance whilst chewing gum, mirroring the playful nature of the song. Videos of this performance turned the song into a viral TikTok sensation and now it’s pretty hard to scroll through your FYP without seeing someone imitating Rosalía. We love it!
Her Collaboration With Billie Eilish
Rosalía has done so many collaborations throughout her career, but we think her collab with Billie Eilish is our personal favorite. Released on the Euphoria soundtrack for Jules’ special episode, ‘Lo Vas A Olvidar’ is a haunting ballad that creates a dream-like atmosphere, perfectly capturing Jules’ vibe. Billie and Rosalía’s voices beautifully complimented one another to discuss the ideas of longing and heartbreak. This enchanting collaboration is not one you’re gonna want to miss!
Her Fashion Sense
As well as being a phenomenal singer, Rosalía is also one of our style icons. From her own personal style to the red carpet, Rosalía is able to turn some amazing looks that we simply cannot get enough of. Our personal favorites include her 2020 GRAMMY Awards Mugler look and literally every outfit she has worn on her tour.
The MOTOMAMI World Tour
Rosalía embarked on her MOTOMAMI world tour in the July of this year and we are seriously jealous of everyone that has tickets. Rosalía has curated an incredible thirty-song setlist, including hits such as ‘Cuuuuuuuuuute,’ ‘Con Altura,’ and her remix of ‘Blinding Lights.’ While she may have finished up the European and Latin American legs of the tour, she still has multiple upcoming shows in North America.
