NYC. If I don't have coffee: I'm at a show.
Coming off the release of their debut album Shadowglow, Flipturn embarked on the eponymous album tour throughout the fall into late October, and we at THP were fortunate enough to catch them at the Bowery Ballroom.
Let’s get into what y’all need to know! If you’re all for loving the indie rock scene – we’re thinking of folks we’ve checked out (think Smallpools and Mt. Joy!), we’re pretty sure Flipturn is a group you’re going to love! Flipturn is comprised of Dillon Basse on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. In addition to Tristan Duncan on lead guitar, Madeline Jarman on bass, Mitch Fountain to accompany on synth and Devon VonBalson on drums.
Hailing from Florida, the group’s sound and tone capture a youthful, high-spirited energy that in Shadowglow, are all reflected creatively in the band’s sound. Think the soundtrack we need to our lives? Highs, lows, and everything in between. Standout moments of the night included the live rendition of ‘Sad Disco’ and ‘August’ which in it’s lowkey melodies, build into a bridge that had us singing along without fail.
