Fresh Music Friday: Valley, Sam Smith and More!

Fresh Music Friday is back, baby! We have a great lineup for you this week, so let’s get straight into the music!

Valley – ‘Throwback Tears’

Valley has been a favorite on Fresh Music Friday for a while now, from ‘Like 1999’ to now anxiously awaiting their newest album, LOST IN TRANSLATION, which is due out June 23rd! ‘Throwback Tears’ is our latest peek at what the album will be like, and we must say, we are fully prepared to be obsessed. Valley is one of those groups that constantly build on their sound and just keep getting better at it, and ‘Throwback Tears’ perfectly shows that.

Sam Smith – ‘Gimme’ ft. Koffee & Jessie Reyez

Sam Smith is a once and a generation artist, and that becomes more and more clear with every track they release. Gloria, Sam’s upcoming album will be out on January 27th, and we are ready to feel all of the emotions! Our newest offering from Gloria is ‘Gimme,’ which we can already tell we are going to be hearing so much of, especially once summer hits.

Stacey Ryan – ‘Over Tonight’

‘Over Tonight’ is a smash and beautifully features Stacey’s vocal ability. There are so many vocal moments, especially near the end of the track, where we ended up replaying them because they were that good. What a way to start off the new year.

Sylo – blanket

We just have to start by saying that blanket is such an incredible body of work. ‘October’ is our standout track from the seven-track project, but we could easily see any other track taking that spot with a few more listens. Every song is genuinely that good. We are officially Sylo stans!

Billy Lockett – ‘Miss Missing You’

‘Miss Missing You’ is a song that could turn anyone into a Billy Lockett fan. Truly, we know it’s early in the year, but 2023 will be the year of Billy Lockett. You heard it here on Fresh Music Friday! This music is simply just on another level. From the vulnerability in the lyrics to the unique tone that Billy has, it’s a recipe for success.

Grace Gaustad – ‘Nothing To Me’

Grace Gaustad is an artist the music industry needs. It’s that simple. ‘Nothing To Me’ is this incredibly alt-pop track that we feel is going to be the perfect addition to any playlist for a night out. The video is equally as incredible as the song. We’ve rewatched it a solid ten times.

Genevieve Stokes – ‘17’

‘17’ is coming to us off of Genevieve’s upcoming EP, Catching Rabbits. After living with this track for a few days and listening to it over and over again, we can conclude that we are obsessed. Genevieve has this soft yet powerful voice that reminds us of early Billie Eilish (high praise). We did also enjoy a good cry to ‘17,’ which is always a good sign if you can make us cry with a track.

Noa Kriel – ‘Gone’

We are wrapping us Fresh Music Friday on the highest of notes with Noa Kriel! ‘Gone’ is, in our opinion, the strongest track Noa has put out thus far. Truly, this track feels like a reinvention for her as an artist.
