It’s time to ring in the new year in an exciting way, so why not do it by listening to some new music? We’ve actually been meaning to show you this group, as they have been on our radar for a while now. Shonen Knife is a Japanese alternative-pop all-girl band that started performing shows in 1982 and has set the Japanese Pop-Punk scene ablaze since then. They have had their fair share of members throughout the years, with current members Naoko, and Atusko Yamono, as well as Risa Kawano. And what do you know, the group is set to release a new album, Our Best Place, on February 15, 2023.
Our Best Place is said to be going back to the band’s roots, as they’re returning with their quirky Pop-Punk style. We are very excited about this, especially since their first four albums were some of our faves, as well as the favorites of some of our faves, such as Nirvana and Sonic Youth. So we think now is the best time to get into the group. We thought we would do you a favor and give you some of our favorite Shonen Knife tracks, that you absolutely need to add to your playlists, as well as one word on why you’d like them. Plus, it’s a great way to spend your time as you’re waiting for the new album. So anyways, here we go!
