New Hope Club isn’t wasting any time in 2023 and is starting the year with a tear-jerker! ‘Don’t Go Wasting Time’ comes after six releases in 2022 (after not releasing since 2020), and we’re so glad the drought is over.
This new track is led by Reece Bibby’s strong and emotional vocals, with George on keys and guitar alongside Blake. The band wanted to lead this next part of their career by doing what’s right for them and being true to themselves, and you can tell that’s exactly what they’re doing. Production by their own Blake Richardson, and instruments by the entire band, this song feels homegrown with the chops to be a smash hit. We’re getting major nostalgia from this song. You can feel New Hope Club‘s previous work shining through, á la ‘Give Me Time’ and ‘Let Me Down Slow,’ ballads are a place for the entire band’s unique and undeniably strong vocals to shine through.
We are completely obsessed with the visuals New Hope Club has been providing us with recently, and the music video for ‘Don’t Go Wasting Time’ is nothing less than a movie. With no over-the-top effects or dramatics, this is the perfect video to accompany a raw and honest song.
Filmed in Joshua Tree with honestly the best golden hour we’ve ever seen. This video is synonymous with their previous music videos for this past year with a cool vintage feel from an 80s roller rink in ‘Whatever’ to the 60s ‘L.U.S.H’ in we’re seeing a resurgence of aspects from old eras in the new era of New Hope Club. We’ve always seen this interest in the band, from their outfits to musical inspirations, so it’s incredible and refreshing to see they’re able to bring this to their videos as well.
