Our Review
In true Kiera Cass style, this book definitely delivered in the romance department! If you’re a fan of slow burn romances, then this one is for you! We enjoyed the enemies to lovers subplot but wished that the main characters were enemies for a bit longer. The story started off slow but quickly picked up and was filled with action and adventure. A Thousand Heartbeats is very character-driven which we found to be a lot of fun! Lennox is strong yet vulnerable, and Annika is stubborn but kind. We also couldn’t get enough of Lennox’s pet fox, Thistle! The writing style flowed very smoothly and made for a binge-worthy read just like The Selection. We also loved that the power of forgiveness was a main theme. With the political intrigue and battling kingdoms, A Thousand Heartbeats also has the vibes of an epic fantasy!
