In this article, you can find everything you need to know about Harry Edward Styles and his fandom. From the basics to the insider scoop, it’s all here and ready for you to read. With that being said, let’s start off basic.

An Introduction To Harry Styles

Where Is Harry Styles From?

Harry Styles was born on February 1st, 1994, in Redditch, United Kingdom. He later moved to be raised in a small town in Cheshire (near Manchester) named Holmes Chapel. Harry and his sister, Gemma, were raised by their mother, Anne Twist, and father, Desmond Styles. The two got divorced when Harry was 7 years old; Harry and Gemma were then raised by Anne, and later, their stepdad, Robin Twist.

When And How Did Harry Styles Debut?

In 2010, Harry made his first appearance on The X-Factor UK, where he sang Train’s ‘Hey Soul Sister,’ as well as Stevie Wonder’s ‘Isn’t She Lovely.’ Unfortunately, there came a moment when Harry failed to advance further in the competition, and all hope was lost. Then, out of the blue, One Direction was formed. Harry was put into a boyband that consisted of his fellow failed contestants Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik. The five boys soon became known as One Direction (a name that Harry came up with) and moved through X-Factor as a unit. Although they didn’t win X-Factor, the band was shot into worldwide fame almost immediately. We won’t get into the details, but it is important to note that One Direction went on an 18-month hiatus in 2015 (it’s been a long 18 months) and thus began Harry’s solo career.

Harry’s debut solo album, Harry Styles, was released on May 12th, 2017. The album consisted of singles: ‘Sign of the times,’ ‘Kiwi,’ ‘Two Ghosts,’ and ‘Sweet Creature.’ Harry toured this album under the name Harry Styles; Live On Tour. Since then, he has released two other albums, Fine Line on December 13th, 2019 (which won him his first GRAMMY Award for Best Pop Solo Performance with the Fine Line single, ‘Watermelon Sugar’), and Harry’s House which dropped on on May 20th, 2022 (GRAMMYs pending!). Harry is currently touring Harry’s House with a sprinkling of Fine Line. (Get Love On Tour tickets here!)

Who Are The Members Of Harry’s Backing Band?

Mitch Rowland: guitar.

Pauli Lovejoy: percussion and MD (musical director).

Sarah Jones: drums and vocals.

Elin Sandberg: bass and vocals.

Ny Oh: guitar, vocals and keys.

Yafra: keys

Harry Styles Lore

What Is “Eroda?”

Eroda. Ah, yes, the made-up island that was used for the ‘Adore You’ music video. To put it in simple terms: Eroda (the word ‘adore’ backward) is a fake island that Harry used to promote his single, ‘Adore You.’ The music video takes place on the island and features the town in which they live. It’s a highly complex and genius concept with so many details and an entire storyline.

Before the music video came out, the island of Eroda was being promoted across all social media—Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube—and even had an entire website dedicated to it. These promotions and adverts came out of nowhere. No one knew what Eroda was, if it was a real island and why they were seeing so many adverts on the place. Eroda became a huge sensation and had people all over the world coming up with conspiracies and/or trying to debunk it, claiming that the island has always been there. That was when Harries came along and found a way to link the island back to Harry Styles. No one believed us, they called us crazy, and now those people face embarrassment xoxo.

What Is “The Whale?”

Listen, this sounds a whole lot weirder than it actually is. Since his One Direction days, Harry has been known for his signature move known as “the whale.” The move simply consists of him taking a sip of water and then spitting it out into the air as if he were a whale shooting water out of a blowhole. If you think he’s letting water dribble from his mouth, you are sorely mistaken. Take a look at this video compilation:

See, he is basically a whale.

What is “Pleasing?”

Pleasing is Harry’s lifestyle, beauty, and cosmetics brand. On November 29th, 2021, Pleasing products were available for purchase on the website and allowed for worldwide sales. The brand’s first drop, Perfect Pearl, was inspired by the pearls found within oysters. Perfect Pearl includes The Perfect Polish Set, the Pleasing Pen, the Pearlescent Illuminating Serum, and the Pleasing crewneck. As of now, the brand has 5 collections and over twenty products to choose from.

Harry’s Acting Career

In 2017 Harry managed to make his way from the stage all the way to the big screen! Being cast in four massive movies: Dunkirk, Eternals, Don’t Worry Darling, and My Policeman, Harry has definitely made his mark in the Hollywood scene.

What Are “Satellite Stomps?”

The phrase “satellite stomp” or “satellite tippy taps” refers to the little dance that Harry does during the instrumental break in his song ‘Satellite.’ The dance consists of little foot taps that Harry does on each drum beat. Take a look at this example.

Harries have also coined the term “Satellite Stompers.” Now, this refers to the shoes that Harry wears when he performs the Satellite stomps. The shoes are actually Adidas x Gucci Gazelle’s, but we Harries much prefer to call them Satellite Stompers. It’s only right. Buy a pair of your own stompers here.

What does “TPWK” mean?

TPWK is the acronym for the phrase “Treat People With Kindness.” The term stemmed from the song ‘Treat People With Kindness,’ one of the most popular songs on the Fine Line album. Not only that, but it is a phrase that Harry has used for years, even prior to the song’s release. During the Love On Tour era, Harry began selling merch items with the phrase on them in order to raise money for a multitude of different charities! Treating people with kindness is one of Harry’s most wonderful qualities, so, naturally, we Harries have taken on the task of always being kind.

If you would like to expose yourself to chaotic fan-created Harry videos, try searching something like “Harry Styles on crack” or “Harry Styles being Harry Styles.” Take your pick of any video that you find enticing, and we swear that you won’t be disappointed. They are all very, very amusing.

Watching YouTube videos about Harry is important because it will prepare you for your future as a Harrie. It will allow you to learn basic quotes and gain information that you should know (things that we have not mentioned in this article.) That way, you will never be confused as to what on earth everyone is talking about!

Inside The Fandom

The “rry” Suffix

If you’ve scoped out the fandom, there’s a very high chance that you have come across words that end with “rry.” It wouldn’t be any surprise if you got confused by this. After all, the words make no sense and aren’t in the English dictionary. Well, allow us to explain: the reason you are seeing basic words now have the suffix of “rry” is because we Harries are trying to relate that word to Harry—whose name ends with “rry.”

Here’s an example: “We can’t wait for more grammrry content!” Or “Dunkirkrry is my favorite Harry era.” You see what we’ve done there?

At the end of the day, it’s pretty basic! So, don’t be shy. Go ahead and add it to every sentence you use!

Harry Baptisms

Again, pretty basic concept! You may have heard Harries talking about wanting to be baptized by Harry himself. Before you decide that we are all too crazy and you don’t want to be in this fandom anymore, just hear us out. This baptism refers to Harry throwing water into the crowd at his shows. If you haven’t seen it yet, at every concert, Harry grabs a TPWK merch water bottle, opens it and runs to the edge of the stage, where he throws the liter of water onto fans! Ergo, a baptism performed by Harry Styles himself.

“With kindness”

We’ve discussed what TPWK means previously in the “Harry Styles Lore” section of this article, so what we are about to explain should make a lot of sense. Even though we Harries are kind and caring people, we are slightly ashamed to admit that we all have our not-so-TPWK moments … sorry Harry.

Seeing as we are supposed to TPWK at all times when we have our not-so-TPWK thoughts, we have to stop and think wwhd (what would Harry do?), and the answer is always TPWK. Luckily, we have found a way to maintain our kindness by adding the phrase “with kindness” to the end of our sentences!

Here’s an example:

“I hate you (with kindness).” or “no (with kindness).” or “Disrespect Mr. Styles one more time, I dare you (with kindness)”

The Boot Scoot

The “boot scoot” is the name of the dance routine that you will find the fans doing at concerts while Harry is performing ‘TPWK.’ These fans are usually found in the back of the pits and use the space that they have to go all out with a lovely boot scoot routine. It is as simple as that, there’s not much else to say on the matter!

Barking

Yeah … this one actually is as strange as it sounds. Although it is a common sound to hear at concerts (don’t ask), Harries definitely takes the award for loudest barking.

It is absolutely imperative that if you attend a Harry concert, you bark (yes, like a dog) the second he arrives on stage. As we mentioned, it’s a strange tradition, but it is a tale as old as time, or at least, as old as his concert in Manchester, when Harry unknowingly instigated a tradition that stuck around!

What’s crazy about this animalistic tendency is that you will find yourself barking without someone telling you to do so. It’s a basic Harrie urge. At this point, it just kinda … happens? It’s simply a wild phenomenon that no one has a logical and rational explanation for. It’s so crazy that science can’t even explain it. The need to bark at this man will overcome your entire being, and you will have zero control over yourself once it happens. The trick is to have absolutely no shame in it and don’t think about it too hard.

Since you’re at the end of this article, we have to assume that it’s become official; you’re a Harrie! Welcome! We hope that you found this article to be helpful and eased your new-stan nerves! While you’re here, you may want to check out this article on why you should stan Harry, it may give you a little extra help! We hope you enjoy your stay!
