If there’s one thing Taehyun will constantly do, it’s bless us with his heavenly vocals. Have you heard his voice in ‘20cm’ and ‘Sugar Rush Ride?! There’s no doubt he has a beautiful voice with an impressive vocal range. His falsettos and higher range, in particular, are no joke. Don’t believe us? To prove it to you, we’ll be showing you some of our favorite covers by this talented, charismatic 4th gen icon. Be warned, though; you may shed a tear or two because, with every song he covers, you are able to feel the emotions that are being conveyed intensely.
Oh, and for our fellow MOA, if Taehyun is your bias, then be prepared to be bias-wrecked by your own bias. Trust us; we know the struggle. Ready to cry with us to some phenomenal covers? Let’s go!
‘Let Me’ – ZAYN
Not to be biased, but this is hands down one of the best, if not THE best, covers by Taehyun. Are we saying this because we smile every time we listen to it? Maybe, but our point still stands. He couldn’t have chosen a better song because it wonderfully depicts how melodious and colorful his voice is. Also, the way he effortlessly hits each note?! It’s not easy to do. The fact that this cover was recorded in a studio makes this even better because the simplicity of the video really fits the vibe of the song.
‘Over And Over Again’ – Nathan Sykes
This is a great one! The first time we heard this cover, we immediately fell in love with it. Do you know how after hearing a good song, you make it your whole personality trait? Yeah, that was us. Can you blame us, though? We’ve heard many renditions of ‘Over And Over Again,’ but this is one of the few that really pulled at our heartstrings.
‘idontwannabeyouanymore’ – Billie Eilish
Ohh, you guys aren’t ready for this one. Two words: hauntingly beautiful. This song is very heart-wrenching as it discusses struggling with one’s self-esteem and insecurities. The message itself is deep, and hearing how Taehyun was able to match the overall tone of the song made this rendition a personal favorite. He did a fantastic job singing it! It’s a shame it isn’t on Spotify.
‘Hold On’ – Justin Bieber
If you love listening to Taehyun cover songs packed with emotion, then you have to listen to this one. His voice is not only sweet, but it is also powerful. From ballads to pop songs, he does it all! Imagine if he had recorded a longer version of this upbeat yet hopeful track. We wouldn’t have survived. However, if he ever does release a full cover, know that we’ll be streaming it every chance we get.
‘Paper Hearts’ – Tori Kelly
Last but not least, we have ‘Paper Hearts,’ a captivating, tender song that will have you reminiscing about past romantic relationships. Just an FYI: prepare to be speechless and nostalgic because this is truly a masterpiece. Can you believe we were blessed with this gem in 2020? We think it’s time for an updated, full version because Taehyun and Yeonjun complement each other so well- they both have such lovely voices.
Bonus Cover: ‘Stay’ – The Kid LAROI, Justin Bieber
You didn’t think we’d forget about ‘Stay,’ right? If you loved Taehyun and Yeonjun’s rendition of ‘Paper Hearts,’ then you’ll enjoy this one as well. Luckily, no tears will be shed when you listen to this cover, but you may possibly start singing and dancing along as it is catchy and upbeat.
See? We told you Taehyun’s vocal range will leave you in awe, but that’s no surprise given that he is a stellar vocalist, and we can’t wait for him to randomly surprise us with more covers!
