P!NK Is Ready To TRUSTFALL With Zane Lowe And Into Tour

We all know and love P!NK; she is an icon of our time. We’re so excited that she’s taking her album TRUSTFALL on tour starting this summer, because it is an album that deserves to be heard in arenas and stadiums across the nation. Even better, she joined Zane Lowe to talk all about the album, her family, and what is most important to her. You need to hear all the details because it somehow made us (trust)fall in love with her even more. Let’s get into it!

P!NK has always been super passionate when speaking about her love for music, but we learned in this interview even more about her determination to be a rockstar. Here at THP, we understand the passion and drive to work in music, and as a performer, it must be doubly as hard to get the support of those around you when it’s not an easy industry to break into. We think it’s so inspiring that P!NK stuck to her gut and knew what she wanted from this life. We could also totally see her being a psychologist if she ever decides to go back to school, as she mentions to Zane; she has such a warm and deeply understanding aura about her. We could listen to her talk for hours!

I think if you’re paying attention, life will educate you as much as a textbook, and I knew that I was not going to follow the traditional path. My parents were like, “You have to get an education. You need something to fall back on.” I was like, “But I’m not falling back.” I’m moving forward. I’m a girl from Doylestown that said she was going to be a famous rockstar. My mom was like, “That’s adorable. Please God, do something with your life.” I feel like I signed up for it before I got here, so I knew, there was no telling me no, and there was nothing that was going to stop me. So, I just went, I love learning. If I ever went back to school, it would be for psychology. I love learning and I’ve gotten to learn a lot from traveling too. People should just travel…

We know that P!NK loves her family, and she often speaks about their relationships and raising children in the world she lives in. However, it’s so fun to hear her talk about her earlier years and the music that surrounded her. With P!NK refusing to be bound by genre and never being afraid to explore, it totally makes sense that she grew up in a household with such mixed tastes. Which member of her family’s music is your vibe? Drop a comment below, and we’ll compare!

Music was everywhere in our house… my dad was into Don McLean, Billy Joel, Creedence. Rod Stewart. And my mom was like Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Patti LaBelle, Dionne Warwick. And then my brother was 2 Live Crew and Tool and Metallica and Guns and Roses. And then I was Annie, of course, one of the greatest things ever written, Les Mis, Phantom of the Opera, Madonna, Bette Midler, Whitney Houston. I was like real pop. But it was all around me, and my dad could play the (censored) out of a guitar, and he was a finger picker and he and I would harmonize together every night before bed.

P!NK also spoke about the collaborations on her album in her chat with Zane. TRUSTFALL is such an expansive album, and there are some amazing collaborations involved, including First Aid Kit, The Lumineers, and Chris Stapleton. That’s some crazy talent right there, all packed into one album and with the powerhouse of P!NK. We need you all to listen to this album if you haven’t already, like, right now. Because in addition to the wonderful collabs on the album, she’s also going on tour with the incredible Brandi Carlile. You heard us right! Collabs on collabs, and it’s more talent than our brains can process right now.

I’m so excited. I forget how much fun I get to have. I just had our first tour meeting, official meeting where we’re seriously starting to plan and build things, and I walked away going, “I get to do all that.” I’ve loved her [Brandi Carlile] for a very, very, very long time. We wrote a song together, like… oh God, 16 years ago. I’m obsessed with her.
