AWAL artist JVKE is back again with a new beautifully emotional single ‘this is what losing someone feels like.’
Singer-songwriter Jacob Lawson started music the moment he could walk. He picked up a handful of instruments at just three years old and began learning production in high school. The ‘golden hour’ singer has continued to carve a place for himself within the industry. Excitingly, just last week, he performed for the first time at SXSW for the NME and Bose’s C23 showcase.

Behind ‘this is what losing someone feels like’
‘this is what losing someone feels like’ follows the theme of this previous release regarding the naming. His 2022 album is titled this is what ___ feels like and features ‘this is what falling in love feels like.’
Released on March 17th, the new track has already surpassed 2 million plays on Spotify and resonated with listeners.
The overall message is to treasure the time you have with people while they’re here and to never give it for granted. In particular, the track allows the listener to feel every emotion the lyrics raise while reminding them they are not alone. He dives deep into the lyrics of the song, pouring his heart into each line. Truly admirable.
“..when I say I don’t really know where to start with this one [song], I mean it.” he said on Instagram upon the single’s release, “but I hope it brings people together.”
When asked about the song, JVKE shares “Loss is universal. I intentionally didn’t specify the relationship that I wrote this song about. It’s meant to be open ended and interpreted by the listener. We’ve all lost someone somehow, and it’s time we start processing that loss together.”
