Ellie Goulding’s Newest Single, ‘By The End Of The Night,’ Is Heaven To Our Ears

Yes, you read that correctly! Ellie Goulding, our queen, has released a new single entitled ‘By The End Of The Night.’ And yes, this does mean that a brand new album is on its way *internal screaming*! It’s time to get extremely hyped up!

‘By the End of the Night’ has been gifted to us as the fourth single from Ellie’s upcoming fifth studio album, Higher Than Heaven, which will drop on April 7th, 2023!! Pre-order it here! Along with this lovely gift, the song has followed the release of the trance banger, ‘Miracle‘ (created with the one and only Calvin Harris). If you haven’t already heard that chef-d’oeuvre, you can listen to it here 🙂 Okay, now that you know about that release, let’s talk about ‘By The End Of The Night.’ It would be a crime to ignore its brilliance.

Let’s start off with the most crucial aspect: how sexy it makes us feel 😏. Yup, you can definitely add this song to your hot girl playlist … just in case you were wondering. ‘By The End Of The Night’ features an 80s-sounding backing track, making us feel completely electrified! Is it just us, or like … do you also want to grab your nearest hairbrush, stand in the middle of your room, and put on the performance of a lifetime?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like we need music that uplifts us and makes us feel good, and that’s exactly how I feel about ‘By The End Of The Night.’ It gives me a sense of euphoric, sensual escape, like being on a dancefloor on another planet… something that was appealing back in the late 80’s… where this track could have easily come from!

In the track, Ellie openly speaks of her desires and draws from the sexy aspect of women’s empowerment. Ellie tells the world exactly what she wants! The lyrical genius in ‘By The End Of The Night’ grabs at metaphors to describe the feeling she gets from her partner, describing him as a drug, as a type of chemical that almost rushes through her, if you will.

‘By The End Of The Night’ is pop music at its finest! The big drum sound? Brilliant. The synth that makes us feel like we’re floating? Godly. The hammering basslines? Felt in our souls. The lyrics? A big yes. It’s clear to see that Ellie knows exactly what she’s doing when it comes to making music. She had a vision, and she executed it perfectly. We can all agree on that. And if you don’t agree, then you’re clearly just lying to yourself, and you need to stop xoxo.

Just when we thought the song couldn’t get any better (because we all agreed, remember?), Ellie decided that it would be best to perform the song live. Oh, God, did she absolutely kill it. Take a look:
