Arden Alexa is the pop princess your playlist needs. This 18 year old singer songwriter from San Francisco jumped into the world of music at just 3 years old. Music was an essential part of her upbringing from school musicals to art competitions.
In 2021, Arden Alexa released her debut single ‘The Coast’ and showed the world her true artistry and creativity. Her first full-length EP quickly followed as well as her single ‘Summer Girl,’ which gained over 57,000 streams on Spotify. Arden fully embraces her evolution in music and is focusing on honing her craft as she progresses.
‘Stupid Boy’
Her newest release ‘Stupid Boy,’ with an accompanying music video, is no exception to her lively, bedroom pop sound. We love how catchy the chorus is and can’t wait to scream sing it with our friends this summer.
While heartbreak is a clear theme throughout the record, there is an element of friendship and platonic love shown throughout the music video. When asked about the single, Arden Alexa explained “it is an ode to high school boys and the best friends that make them bearable.” Having someone to rely on in these confusing situations is so important!
She even got to get her friends involved in filming the video!
The video opens with Arden dressed to the nines in a beautiful prom dress. However, the viewer quickly realizes she is getting stood up. Arden’s car full of friends pulls up to meet our prom queen and make her forget all about this ‘Stupid Boy.’
They run around the mall, playing games, shopping, and even making a Build-A-Bear that’s pictured on the single cover. We love the fun, light-hearted vibes throughout the music video.

Alexa explained her songwriting process for this track was very personal. She wants to come off as genuine as possible, similar to some of her musical inspirations, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.
“Let’s be honest, high school boys can be clueless about romance,” she explained.
“After experiencing this firsthand with a particularly dramatic unrequited love, I decided to write this song as an ode to high school boys… The lyrics of this song say all of the things that I never had the chance to say to the boys I’ve loved.”
