Let’s start at the very beginning; some say its the very best place to start.

An Introduction To Louis Tomlinson

Where is Louis From?

Louis William Tomlinson was born December 24th, 1991, in Doncaster, a small town in South Yorkshire, England.

Family Life

Louis was born to his mother, Johannah Deakin, and father, Troy Austin. His mother later married Mark Tomlinson and both took on his last name. Louis has 6 siblings. His sisters are Lottie, Felícité, twins Phoebe and Daisy and Doris – another twin with their brother Ernest.

In January 2016, Louis had his first child, Freddie, with Briana Jungwirth!

Unfortunately, on December 7th, 2016, Johannah tragically passed away due after a long battle with cancer. In 2019 Louis’ sister, Felícité, also sadly passed.

When Did Louis First Debut?

Back in 2010, Louis found himself performing Plain White T’s ‘Hey There Delilah’ live on the X-factor in front of judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, and Nicole Scherzinger. He received three “yes”s and moved forward in the competition. Unfortunately, there came a round in which Louis did not make it through to the next round of the competition. It was tragic. Until it wasn’t! It was a surprise to everyone when One Direction was formed. Louis was put together with fellow failed contestants Niall HoranHarry Styles, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne to form the chart-topping, world-famous boyband that we know today as One Direction.

The boys continued to move through X-Factor as a group, but, very unfortunately, they did not win; rather they placed 3rd. Regardless of their placement, One Direction went on to become one of the biggest boy bands in the world. The band was signed with Syco Music and released 5 best-selling albums from 2011 to 2015. As Louies, we are incredibly proud to say that Louis was a credited writer on most of One Direction’s released songs. Even prouder because they dominated the music industry for all five years. Sadly, 1D decided to go on an 18-month hiatus in 2015 … we are still in those 18 months. With this, Louis started his solo career.

Louis’ Solo Career; Music

Louis’ first solo release was a song titled ‘Just Hold On,’ back on December 10th, 2016, with DJ Steve Aoki. The song immediately topped the charts reaching #1 on iTunes in 40 countries as well as debuting at #2 on the UK Singles Chart. In addition, Louis and Aoki took to the X Factor stage as a guest performance on the show.

In 2017, Louis released three other singles, ‘Back To You (feat. Bebe Rexha),’ ‘Just Like You,’ and ‘Miss You.’ All three songs were high on the charts, with ‘Back To You’ reaching the top 10 on the UK Charts and the top 30 worldwide!

On January 31st, 2020, Louis released his much-anticipated debut album, Walls. Prior to its release, Louis teased us by releasing four incredible singles throughout 2019. ‘Two Of Us’ on March 7th, ‘Kill My Mind’ on September 5th, ‘We Made It’ on October 24th, and ‘Don’t Let It Break Your Heart’ on November 23rd. Walls hit #1 on the iTunes chart in over 25 countries and peaked at #9 on the US Billboard Top 200! Louis performed this album all over the world on his Louis Tomlinson Walls Tour that took place from 2021 through to 2022.

Most recently, Louis blessed the world with his incredible, jaw-dropping, speaker-blasting-worthy album Faith In The Future (FITF for short), released November 11th, 2022The album came along with singles: ‘Bigger Than Me’ on September 1st, ‘Out Of My System’ on October 14th, and ‘Silver Tongues’ on November 9th. FITF made it to #1 in the UK.

Louis Tomlinson Lore

The number 28’s relevance

If you’ve seen any pictures of Louis, you would have noticed the “28” tattoo that he has on his fingers. If you’ve watched any Louis interviews, you may have also noticed his small love for the number 28. Of course, we all know that it is very oBvIoUsLy his favorite number, but why? It’s simple, really.

Back in the day, Louis got the chance to play for his hometown’s football team, the Doncaster Rovers. He got signed with the number 28! Since then, Louis has taken a liking to the number, and it is a big part of him!

What on earth is 369?

Back in 2021, Louis replied to a tweet stating that a new tattoo he has in mind is of the number “369.” Why? We have absolutely no idea. Since then, Louis has placed the number in cryptic pictures as well as placed the number on his merch. Louis is yet to tell us what 369 really means and so unfortunately, we can’t give you any further information on the topic. It’s fun to speculate, though, so go ahead and read into things as much as possible!

What is DN4?

If you’ve looked at any of Louis’ live performances, you would have come across the DN4 massively stuck onto the drumkit. What does it mean? It’s the Doncaster postal code. That’s it. Nothing to read into.

What is the Away From Home Festival?

Back in 2021, Louis debuted his much anticipated Away From Home Festival. The festival took place over one day and was curated and created entirely by Louis. The festival was meant to be a place that was accessible to all fans and a place where new bands had the chance to open to thousands of fans.

6000 fans won a chance to attend the festival for free, and others paid a low price to be able to watch the live stream and had the opportunity to watch a documentary about the festival. It showed the planning stages, small interviews with Louis, as well as the excitement that could be felt throughout the entire process.

The festival was put on again in 2022 at Fuengirola, Malaga, Spain, and hosted 17000 fans! Louis is already speaking about plans for the 2023 version of the festival, and we absolutely cannot wait!

What is All of Those Voices?

It was on Thursday February 9th, 2023 that, out of no where, Louis announced his long-time in the making documentary entitled All Of Those Voices! The documentary was released on Wednesday March 22nd, 2023 and was screened in cinemas worldwide!

As stated on the official website “All Of Those Voices takes a refreshingly raw and real look at Louis Tomlinson’s musical journey. Ditching the typical glossy sheen of celebrity documentaries, this film gives audiences an intimate and unvarnished view of Louis’ life and career.” As you can imagine, we were all internally—and a lot of us externally—freaking the hell out over this concept.

It was a roller coaster of emotions and just incredibly well done. You can find out more about the film by heading over to its IMDB page or watching the trailer below!

What is ‘odds?’

Odds is a little fun game that Louis, his band, and his team play while on tour. It’s essentially a bunch of stupid concepts that players get dared to do, but they only have to do it if they lose the odds.

How it works is simple; someone asks what the odds are for another player to perform a ridiculous task. First, the player will state a number range, for example, 1-10. The two players will then say a number from one to ten at the same time. If the numbers are equal or add up to ten, the dare has to be completed.

Here’s an example: Louis asks Michael what are the odds of him dressing up in a dumb outfit to perform on stage. Michael says the odds are 1-10. After counting to three, the two of them say a number. Louis says three, and Michael says seven. Because three and seven add up to ten, Michael has to dress up.

The game was such a huge part of the Walls Tour that all the band members actually got matching tattoos of the word “odds.”

Inside The fandom

The ‘Kill My Mind’ barricade.

You may hear Louies going crazy about the ‘Kill My Mind‘ barricade, and you may be wondering what that means and why it is such a big deal. It’s very simple, really. During Louis’ performance of his hit song ‘Kill My Mind,’ he jumps off of the stage and runs right up to the barricade, where he jumps up to the fans.

He has explained in numerous interviews that the feeling he gets when going down into the pit is one of the most incredible feelings out there. There is a rush of excitement and adrenaline that he loves. He has described it as the same feeling he gets when walking onto the stage for the first time but a thousand times better and exciting.

Louis is also very much a child at heart, and you will see security chasing after him and pulling him back. But, Louis being Louis, he tries to escape their hold every time and runs away to jump up on another section. The fact that Louis feels so safe around us that he willingly jumps into the crowd—even with a broken arm—is one of the best things about this fandom. There’s something so special about it; we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Louis has always had a very close relationship with his fans. It’s something he constantly talks about. He always tries to do as much as he can to connect with them. Examples such as the free tickets for the Away From Home Festival and pushing the limits by bringing the barricade as close to the stage as possible only begin to show his love and appreciation for us.

Important quote: “I need you, and you need me.”

The Tommo Way

Origin: “forget what they taught you in scouts, Payno, we’re doin’ it the Tommo way.” – Louis Tomlinson, during the camping trip seen in the One Direction: This Is Us film

What is ‘the Tommo way?’ Well, the phrase basically describes the way in which Louis and Louies project themselves.

Louis is well known for his sassy, sarcastic, witty, and very British personality. He always says what’s on his mind and won’t hold back on his valid opinions. Louis always stands up for his friends and loved ones and will say whatever is necessary to protect them. It is with this that he has no shame and feels no need to soften the blow. Doing something “the tommo way” means you do it your way without caring what others may think. Some people perceive this to be rude, thinking that it comes off as mean, but in reality, it is not coming from a place of hate at all.

Louis is not a mean guy. He’s actually known for being such a kind, gentle soul. His music feels like a big hug, and his smile is the only medication we need to be okay. As stated before, he is home.

Louis does things like bring cupcakes to fans after the show, he will put a performance on hold to make sure a fan is okay, he raises money for charities, promotes new bands, and so much more. This small list doesn’t even begin to cover it; there is nothing he wouldn’t do to help, protect, and show appreciation.

He’s just British, head strong, and loves to take the piss out of everything, but we love it.

Why do I have to hate avocados (or at least feel bad when eating them)?

Louis absolutely despises avocados (watch this video for a full explanation). Has he ever eaten an avocado? No. He just has an issue with their popularity and trendiness. So, as a Louie, it is only right of us to hate avocados or feel ashamed to like them. Absolutely nothing more to say on the matter.

Since you’ve made it to the end of this article, it’s time to make it official: you’re a Louie! Congratulations and welcome to the greatest (see what we did there? Please laugh.) family out there! We’re so glad to have you join us.

As Louies ourselves, we hope that we made the transition into the fandom easier for you, calming your nerves!
