Only Child Is Ready To Be The SRS ONE

We are always looking for a new pop music obsession, and it’s no surprise that brought us into Only Child’s world. Only Child is the kind of electro-pop masterpiece musician we would do anything for. His new EP, SRS ONE, is not only staying on repeat, but we’re actively making it an integral part of our entire personality.

Being the queer icon that he is, Christopher James Martin put his entire everything into this EP. ‘Don’t Call Me BB’ was our first taste of the synth-pop beauty that awaits us on this release. This is simply a fun EP to listen to anytime, any day. Not only are you guaranteed to dance along to the catchy synth, but you’ll be singing along without even realizing it. Christopher had this to say about SRS ONE:

Something in these songs definitely called out to me and each other. I think because they felt of a kind, while at the same time showcasing different sides of myself as a songwriter. I think because they feel equal parts light and dark, or happy and sad, even if it’s in different ways.

Everything about SRS ONE is somehow an homage to Christopher himself. Digging into queer roots like 80s synth and modern-day synth-pop icons, the musicality of this EP is simply the start of its beauty. There’s a deep level of vulnerability in Martin’s songwriting. He accredits this to a multitude of things, but one is the fact that he was an only child himself. This led to being around a lot of adults and looking at things in a way that holds depth to them. It’s not a surprise to us that this resulted in him becoming an amazing lyricist.
