Time To UNRAVEL Tyler Posey’s New Album

Our first listen of the UNRAVEL singles, like ‘Lemon’ and ‘Runnin,‘ had us stoked and waiting for Tyler Posey to drop the album. Well, UNRAVEL (Tyler Posey’s first full-length album!!!) is finally here and it’s better than we could have ever imagined. If you’re a pop punk fan, chances are you’ll enjoy this album as much as we do.

When Tyler Posey said UNRAVEL has got every genre, he meant it. Songs like ‘Lemon’ and ‘Sing’ really highlight the range of this album and each one brings something special to the album. UNRAVEL is full of 2000/2010s pop-punk influence brought into the 2020s, which makes it an absolute joy to listen to. There’s also some screamo thrown in there, like the opening track ‘Get Out Alive.’ Tyler Posey truly gave us something for everyone with UNRAVEL. We wanted to highlight some of our favorite tracks (so far, it’s only been one day you never know what will change) off the album in the hopes that it will entice you to listen.

‘I Fall Alone’

‘I Feel Alone’ definitely leans into the pop-punk element some of you might be familiar with. It’s loud, it’s high-energy, and it’s exactly the finger-pointing, head-banging type of sound we love to hear in a pop punk track. It’s pretty early on in the tracklist and is a solid showing of Tyler Posey’s sound in our opinion. In terms of UNRAVEL‘s varying genre influences, you can really hear the 2000s pop-punk influence on this track and it makes it a favorite of ours.

‘Sing’

This is one of those songs we were talking about when we were talking about UNRAVEL‘s range for a reason. It’s a true ballad, full of melancholy and sadness, a testament to someone Tyler lost. It’s an emotional track and leans more acoustic, which is the perfect fit. It’s one of the unique tracks on the album in terms of its sound and it’s an absolutely beautiful one.

‘World Class Loser’

This is one of the catchiest songs on UNRAVEL in our opinion. We were hooked from the first listen and it was just a lot of fun. It has that “let’s get out of this town and be more than this” energy that is so pervasive in pop-punk and for that reason, it makes it a hit in our books. It’s high energy and will make you feel like you can conquer the world. It’s definitely a standout track, that’s for sure.

‘Piece of Sh*t’

Hey Siri, define angst. We’re not Siri, but ‘Piece of Sh*t’ is definitely a track that is chock full of angst with a dose of self-reflection. Tyler reflects on a darker period of his life and you can hear that energy and reflection throughout the song. We’re excited to hear this one live because anyone who has been in a similar position will definitely relate. There’s something about screaming angsty, relatable lyrics back at an artist surrounded by a whole crowd of people doing the same.

‘Out Loud’

Wow, what a mood. That was our first reaction at hearing the line: “You don’t like to say these things out loud you’d rather keep everything to yourself.” Such a simple sentiment, yet all too real if you’re someone who is terrible at vulnerability. (We’re not saying that that’s us, but we’re also not not saying that) This song is kind of a call-out but one that a lot of us probably need to hear.

If you like what you heard, make sure to grab tickets to the UNRAVEL album release show on June 10th at the legendary Chain Reaction in California. We can’t wait to hear what these songs sound like live on stage.
