What’s A Hamilton?
If you’re curious as to what Hamilton is (which we hope you’re not!) Hamilton is a Broadway musical written and starred in by Lin-Manuel Miranda, an icon in all things Broadway! The story follows the life of Alexander Hamilton and the way he changed America, even after his death.
Featuring 46 songs, the show took the world by storm in 2015. With talented cast members like Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, and Leslie Odom Jr, the show made its way to TVs everywhere when it started streaming on Disney+! (This would be the perfect time for you to watch it, even if you’ve already seen it.)
Now For The Breaking History Part!
Now, we told you guys that this iconic Broadway show has made history. Well, on June 16th, Hamilton became the first Broadway cast recording ever to be Diamond-certified by the RIAA! Do you guys know how absolutely insane that is? (If you don’t, it’s pretty insane!)
With over 6 billion streams globally, Hamilton is also the highest charting cast recording since Hair in 1969. 1969!!! That’s a long freaking time. (Trust us, we know stuff. It’s kinda in the job description.)
But Hamilton Isn’t Done Yet!
On top of all the iconic things we’ve already mentioned, have you ever heard of a Broadway cast album to top Billboard’s ‘Top Rap Albums?’ Well, you have now. Yep, Hamilton did that too.
With statistics like 34 platinum and 18 gold individual song certifications, we know that Hamilton’s road to record-breaking success is not over. They’re only going up from here, and we’re living for it!
