This is a momentous day for Taking Back Sunday fans; whether you’ve been a longtime fan or got into them after The Maine’s, ‘Loved You A Little’ was released, it’s equally important. First of all, they signed to Fantasy Records. Second of all, there’s a new Taking Back Sunday song, which is the first in 4 (four) years. For decades (yes, plural), TBS has been releasing amazing music. Their new song, ‘The One’ is not an exception.
“This song came from a riff that Shaun Cooper wrote the day he lost his grandmother while she was in a nursing home at the start of the COVID pandemic.”
Taking Back Sunday
‘The One’
Given the meaning, there’s such raw emotion in this song that makes it an absolutely beautiful tribute to Shaun’s grandmother. It literally gives us chills. The music video is about the band getting ready to perform again. It may seem like a simple concept, except it holds so much nostalgia and excitement for what’s to come. Oh and also, there’s a teaser of an unreleased song at the end. You know that as soon as it drops, we’ll let you know. You can watch the music video below.
Lyrics We Love
“Now I’m close enough to reach you,
All the walls that I could see through,
Still the words that I can’t say go on and on and on.”

They’ll be playing Sad Summer Fest starting July 6th and will be at Four Chord Music Festival on August 12th. They also have additional tour dates, which you can find here.
