Saturday night flew us on a global trip with Young the Giant and Milky Chance at the FPL Solar Amphitheater at Bayfront Park in Miami. From Germany to India and back again, we had a great time transporting ourselves to different places through music. The best part? No passports are needed!
Rosa Linn
Opening the show was Rosa Linn, a singer-songwriter with a powerful storyteller voice. Her setup was simple: she, a guitar, and a guitar player. She had a guitar customized for the date (June 22nd) and had “American Daydream” and a couple of other things that look hand-written, which we love. Simple, but it emphasized her voice, which it deserved.
Milky Chance
Next was Milky Chance, hailing from Berlin, Germany. They brought the Berlin dance club culture to us. Or should we say they brought us to the Berlin club scene? Any way you put it, we were here for it. It was a great time: they seemed to enjoy themselves a lot, which is always great. They started with ‘Synchronized’ followed by ‘Ego’ and ‘Blossom.’ As the end of the set neared, when the darkness of the night began to creep in, we were in full dance club mode, even if we didn’t know the lyrics. We danced and enjoyed the unique sound that Clemens Rehbein has. It’s instantly recognizable, and we love that.
Young The Giant
Young The Giant came afterward. Their set took us to India with its sound and stage design and started dark and mellow, indicating a complete change from the previous one. They begin with a song from their most recent album, American Bollywood, from the album of the same name. Vocalist Sameer Gadhia captured us with his alluring voice and took us on a journey with their lyrics. The following few songs were ‘Wake Up,’ ‘Something to Believe In,’ and their classic ‘Cough Syrup.’ Our favorite is their 2019 single, ‘Superposition,’ which we were very happy to see performed.
Our photo gallery from the show can be found below. If you also want to go on a Milky Chance and Young the Giant global adventure, the tour continues into early September in the States and then heads to Europe for the next month. If you are considering going to a show (or two, we won’t judge!), we highly recommend going; it is an amazing experience we would love to share with our honeybees. Dates and tickets can be seen here.
