Trick Or Treat, Here Are The Songs That Can’t Be Beat
We put together a strong list of songs that we think will truly fulfill the Halloween-esque mood we are all getting into. Despite these songs being chosen for a Halloween playlist, not all of them are “traditional” Halloween hits. We picked a great mixture of Halloween classics and Halloween-inspired hits. As a result of that decision, you must trust us when we say we are putting you onto the best music for this Halloween season (and beyond). Here are the first 10 we recommend from our playlist. Stay till the end for the full exclusive playlist!
‘Olivia’ By Wolves of Glendale
Are you looking for a song that talks about the experience of living with a ghost? How about a comedic song about falling in love with the ghost in the new house you just moved into? This song says that if he wanted to he would even in the afterlife. The Wolves of Glendale need to be added to your personal Halloween playlist, especially with ‘Olivia’. This track is a great song with a catchy beat and lyrics that will have you laughing. Certainly, this comedic band is a must-have on your 2023 spooky season playlist!
‘Thriller’ By Michael Jackson
Any fantastic Halloween playlist will have the best Halloween pop hit in the world: ‘Thriller.’ Notably, Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ is the perfect upbeat classic creepy crawly song to help get your Halloween season started. There is a reason why this song has been a preferred Halloween classic since the 80s! The lyrics, the music video, the dance moves, and more have made this a Halloween go-to. We would without a doubt be selling you short on your Halloween preparations if we didn’t add in the hit from the King Of Pop!
‘Teeth’ by 5 Seconds of Summer
5 Seconds of Summer doesn’t always make songs that would fit in with the Halloween spirit. But, when they do it’s either ‘Daylight’ or ‘Teeth.’ We picked ‘Teeth’ for its punchy rhythm and lyrics that make you realize how eerie love can be. We can’t lie, with lyrics like “talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth,” “late night devil put your hands on me,” and “blood on my shirt, heart in my hand still beating” making this 5SOS song ideal for an eerie fall vibe.
These Aussies know how to create a perfect unintentional Halloween bop.
‘Final Girl’ By Eva Rose
The famous archetype found in all Horror/Thriller films, shows, and books: is the final girl. The final girl is the one who somehow survives the antagonist and has to be the one to fight off them directly. Without a doubt, any truly good Horror/Thriller story has the final girl bravely covered in some scars that come out remarkably on the other side. ‘Final Girl’ by Eva Rose is a heartbreak song with a twist. She is the final girl who has to confront the person who made other girls like her run away and disappear. Consequently, in good final girl fashion, she’s ending the cycle.
It’s an ideal alt-pop/indie-pop song you need on rotation on your Halloween playlist. It’ll get your soul prepped for Halloween so well.
‘Ghostbusters’ By Ray Parker Jr.
“Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!” Listen, we are a sucker for late 80’s Halloween music (and movies), and in reality, we can’t exclude this hit! ‘Ghostbusters’ came out in 1984 AND along with the original iconic Ghostbusters, set up an ongoing legacy of cultural impact.
Everyone knows who the Ghostbusters are and even the famous theme song! For that reason, any respectable list of songs that will get you into the Halloween spirit will have this track on it. How could we not include it? It’s perfect for your ghost-hunting adventures for you and your friends.
‘Arms Tonite’ By Mother Mother
We stumbled across this song late last year and have had it in storage to pull out for an occasion such as this! ‘Arms Tonite’ is a curious song about the extremes we find comfort in being close to someone we fancy. To clarify, ‘Arms Tonite’ is about dying in the arms of your lover and wanting to crawl back from the afterlife to be with them again. Meanwhile also have the mindset of “Oh wow I got to die in their arms, cool!”
Reader, we will be candid, this was found in a POV: You’re Dating Sam Winchester playlist to give some extra context. If you’re a Supernatural fan, you understand how this song is perfect for Halloween and keeping the spooks high.
‘No Body, No Crime (feat. HAIM)’ By Taylor Swift
Nothing screams eerie or psychological thrill like a murder mystery. ‘No Body, No Crime’ gives a similar setup to Gone Girl. The perfect plan for giving karma in the way you believe someone deserves it. In this case, ‘No Body, No Crime‘ is an eye for an eye, friend goes missing so strangely does their estranged husband. Taylor Swift, the queen of storytelling, paints the perfect Halloween crime. It’s explicitly, the reverse story of the final girl, it’s the story of revenge for the final girl. As soon as you hit play and hear the sirens at the beginning, it’s the perfect setting for an eerie fall night. It’s an ideal song for the true crime thriller side that comes along with Halloween.
‘Voulez-Vous’ By ABBA
‘Voulez-Vous’ is a mesmerizing song that would fit perfectly in the background into a chasing scene through a busy bar, dance, or club. Or for example, even playing as a character who makes a deal with a mysterious fortune teller to obtain their deepest wants. As ‘Voulez-Vous’ is about caving into your desires and going to get what you want it can be quite easy to fall victim to it’s bewitching sound.
ABBA sounds know how to enchant any listener, however, ‘Voulez-Vous’ belongs in the MP3 player of a witch. It gives confidence while also being a bit of a warning siren song in the right moments. Obviously, with the enchanting voices from ABBA any song from them can make your Halloween feel more alive.
‘Entertaining Your Ghost’ By Alex Coles
People can haunt us more than ghosts could ever come close to. It’s the way that a person can be 100% alive and be the element that gives us the biggest frights. The way that some people can come, go, and leave their traces in our lives that feel like they’re in our veins like possessions is scary.
We can end up in situations where we are slipping deeper into their haunting taunts being willing to sacrifice our happiness by well…Entertaining Their Ghost. To repeat, the thought of someone can be something nightmarish.
‘Supermassive Black Hole’ By MUSE
One word: Twilight. Anything on the Twilight soundtrack automatically gets placed into a Halloween playlist. Twilight brought such a banger soundtrack. And since Twilight is the perfect set of fall movies to sit down and enjoy, a song from the album needed to be on this playlist. Plus…anything that has to do with Vampires, especially the Cullen type, brings life to any Halloween playlist prep. ‘Supermassive Black Hole’ is the right type of edge you need in and out of Halloween.
To emphasize, if you’re ready to feel like an edgy and angsty vampire (Edward) this is for you.
