Welcome honeybees to another exclusive interview with none other than The Ready Set himself. We’ve been Giants for ages over here at The Honey POP! so the announcement of his new album, Cherryland, has had us in shambles for weeks. Not only is this the first major release from The Ready Set since 2018, but it’s completely independent and Jordan-centric! Created in his own home and something he’s insanely proud of from start to finish, Cherryland is about to steal the slot for Album of The Year in 2023!
Not to immediately gush about our interview with none other than Jordan Witzigeuter himself – but we need to immediately gush about our interview with Jordan! We got to talk about all things The Ready Set, new and old, what Cherryland means to him, his shows with BOYS LIKE GIRLS, and so much more! So, let’s buzz right in!
No More Cherry Picking!
One thing we loved learning about Cherryland was the themes it deals with. Jordan explained that the record plays with themes of accepting yourself as an artist and learning to stop overthinking everything so much. Pack in some touches of that classic TRS never-ending anchor of support theming with it, and you have a piece of Cherryland’s story. The first release of the album, ‘Who You Really Are,’ dropped back in May. An upbeat synth-pop masterpiece, the track talks about being true to who you are at your core and not what your mind or outside forces tell you that you are.
“Don’t Forget It’s Not Who You Really Are”
This new era of The Ready Set is one that is 100% authentic and genuine to Jordan in a way we love to see! Performing with previous tourmates BOYS LIKE GIRLS, 3OH!3, and State Champs, The Ready Set is truly back and better than ever before. Cherryland is out everywhere on October 27th, but you can stream its first three singles as well as the newest single ‘Loose Change’ now!
Alright, enough babbling. Let’s get into the interview!
