‘The Hanging Tree’ and Other Musical Scores We Wish Rachel Zegler Performed

How many days have we been counting down ’til the drop of The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 🐍🕊️? One too many, one too many. November 17th can’t come any faster! For now, we’ll just have to play Rachel Zegler’s ‘The Hanging Tree’ 🌳on a continuous loop and pray to the movie gods that Rachel Zegler gets cast in every movie for the rest of time.

There’s no denying Rachel eats up every single song she performs and her highly anticipated performance for the fourth Hunger Games movie is no different. While we wait for her angelic voice to grace our AMC screens, here are four classic musical scores we wish Rachel Zegler had performed. Musical theater nerds unite! 🤓

‘Over the Rainbow’ – The Wizard of Oz

One of the most classic songs from a movie, ‘Over the Rainbow’ reminds us of our magical childhood, joining Dorothy and the Scarecrow on adventures through Oz. Even though Judy Garland’s original rendition needs no changes, we’d love to hear Rachel take a spin on this song that everyone adores. We’d transcend over the rainbow and into the clouds above 🌈.

‘Burn’ – Hamilton

Given Rachel’s vocal range, we’d die to hear her cover ‘Burn.’ This song took over every Broadway lover’s heart when Hamilton opened in 2015 and still holds a special place in our hearts today 🧡.  Take it a step further, we’d love to see her perform in the Broadway musical… maybe one day 🎭. It would be a dream to see Rachel take on the role of any of the Schuyler sisters!

‘Suddenly Seymour’- Little Shop of Horrors

One of our favorite musical theater numbers, ‘Suddenly Seymour’ requires a powerhouse of a singer to take on the role of Audrey. No doubt that Rachel would be the perfect choice and eat up the role just as a giant Venus Fly Trap would. She’ll need a duet partner, and we can’t help but fantasize about someone from the original cast taking on the role.

‘The Wizard and I’ – Wicked

The first time we heard Rachel cover this song, we melted just like the Wicked Witch of the West. Even though this cover is completely flawless, we’d love to hear Rachel perform this onstage or even on the big screen. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are taking the lead roles in the highly anticipated 2024 Wicked film (and we aren’t complaining about those casting choices), but we can’t help but wish Rachel was cast too.
