Iggy Azalea Confirms ‘Stupid People’ Collab With 5SOS

Sometimes there are unexpected combinations in life that may just surprise you – like a french fry dipped in a McDonald’s Milkshake or Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney. It seems that we are about to experience another unexpected combination in the form of finding out about a 5 Seconds of Summer collab with Iggy Azalea.

Iggy herself confirmed the collab herself in a now deleted tweet in response to a fan who asked if the song she hinted at dropping next week has a rock vibe to it.

If you’re a little skeptic and wondering if this is a manipulation, you can see the tweet she responded to and the fan’s response here. She also, at the time of writing this, had a tweet up (which she deleted before I could even finish this sentence, thanks Iggy!) responding to a fan as to whether 5SOS would be singing or just playing instruments. For those of you, like me, who love 5SOS’s angelic Aussie voices, you’ll be pleased with the answer.

I saw that tweet for myself with my own eyes, so I’m giving you The Honey POP promise that it’s legit and not at all edited!

I suspect that Iggy was made to delete the tweets by her team since neither she or 5SOS have made the official announcement. Or maybe it’s a good promo stunt to do the sneaky tweet-and-delete, similar to Harry Styles’ vague “Do” tweet just days before he released his brand new single.

Stans – as stans do – have gone up in arms on Twitter, boldly expressing their reactions to the news. It seems as though there’s quite a split in opinions, but that’s expected with everything a musician does, right?

UPDATE: Ashton Irwin decided to respond to a popular 5SOS Twitter account claiming that the rumours were false, before yeeting himself off of Twitter. This left fans in a huge speculation and claiming that Iggy was lying to use the band for clout.

However, Iggy then came online with more tweet-and-delete action to clear her conscience.

This will be 5SOS’s third collab of the year, following their hit ‘Who Do You Love’, with The Chainsmokers and a remix of their single, ‘Easier’ with Charlie Puth. Both releases are part of 5SOS’s new era ahead of their fourth studio album, which is said by the band to be released early 2020.

Iggy released her sophomore album ‘In My Defence’ earlier this year with features including Lil Yachty, Kash Doll, Stini and Juicy J.

We are super excited to see how this collab turns out! You can be sure to hear our opinion when the single drops, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, sound off in the comments below your thoughts about a 5 Seconds of Summer collab with Iggy Azalea or tweet us @THPMag.

[…] 5 Seconds of Summer‘s lead guitarist, Michael Clifford, is such a precious soul. He has a bizarre sense of humour, he’s super talented and he cares so much about the fans. He’s a whole bundle of fluff and must be protected. I think, though, he’s starting to realise that as he’s getting older, he needs to work hard to stay relevant with the younger fans and the entire ordeal is truly hilarious. Here are X times Michael tried to be relevant when getting down with the kids of today. […]
