Her fans have watched Gigi blossom over the past 10 years on YouTube. She was one of the first YouTube creators to come out as transgender and cover her journey through the popular video platform site and has been an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community her entire career.
The soon-to-be released makeup brand is being created in collaboration with Ipsy – a beauty subscription box service and online retailer. Very little info about the brand is available right now, but Gigi just teased two products in her latest video which includes a blush brush and body glow, which she swatches. Honestly? It looks incredible, and I want to slather it on right now! A duo blush compact and lipgloss can also be spotted in the thumbnail of the video!
According to WWD, Gigi created the line due to a lack of inclusivity in the beauty space, so she wanted to create her products aimed at shoppers of all gender identities. It’s also been reported that she opted for a collaboration with Ipsy after they were one of the first brands to collaborate with her at the outset of her career.
As someone who has been a fan since the early days, I know this is a huge step for Gigi— who first started off doing makeup tutorials as a pre-transitioned teen who had yet to realise her true identity. It’s also so important that as we progress in society in terms of inclusivity and acceptance of all gender identities outside of the cisgender binaries, to always include them, meaning in luxuries, recreation and everything in between.
Gigi’s makeup brand will launch on Ipsy November 1st.
Are you excited for the Gigi Gorgeous makeup brand? What are you hoping for from the line? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @THPMag because we love to know your thoughts.
