When it comes to creating a new artist, there’s no better person to turn to for advice than a current artist. We’ve recently heard how Nick Jonas will be a judge on ‘The Voice’, and now Blackpink’s Lisa will mentor on ‘Idol Producer!’
The Chinese survival programme is going into its third season and airs on China’s largest online video platform, iQIYI. ‘Idol Producer’ announced via their Weibio account that Lisa will be one of the mentors featured on the show– the first in its series that features female trainees and is in collaboration with Chinese idol girl group, SNH48.
Lisa was discovered at the tender age of 14, when she auditioned to become a trainee with South Korea’s YG Entertainment– two years before making her debut as one-fourth of Blackpink in 2016. The Korean girl-group has since gained a lot of success– with performing at Coachella earlier this year, making their American debut at Universal Music Group’s 2019 Grammy Artist Showcase, and becoming the first K-POP girl group to grace the cover of Billboard magazine! All while performing on a world tour!
So if anyone has the ability to mentor, Lisa is definitely one of those people.
So what IS Idol Producer?
Idol Producer is produced and hosted by EXO’s Lay Zhang and basically shares a similar concept to most idol survival shows– where entertainment companies send in their trainees to compete for a chance to debut as a group. Both coaches and mentors will be on hand to give trainees advice as they perform to win over the audience. The fate of the winners falls in the hands of the viewers.
So, what do you think about Lisa joining ‘Idol Producer’? Will you be tuning in? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or tweet us @THPMag because we love to hear your opinions!
