If you’re on the search for a new band to liven up your playlist, then we might just be able to help you. Meet 4th & Orange; the band who are willing to bring some light into your life.
Hailing from Long Beach, California, 4th & Orange are a five-piece band consisting of Garret Douglas (lead), Chris “DJ Irey” Garcia (keyboard), Ricardo Santiago (Guitar), Jacob Lucero (bassist) and Sam Ward (drummer). Co-founded by longtime friends Garret and Chris, the pair merge inspiration from hometown heroes, Sublime, with their own individual style to craft 4th & Orange’s specialized California-pop reggae sound.
The name of the band pays homage to the corner of 4th Street and Orange Avenue– where Douglas and DJ Irey’s tumultuous, dark pasts opened the door to shed light on their future. It’s also where the veil of self-doubt lifted as they harnessed previous hardships and transformed them into self-reliance.
Why you should stan them.
As the cold and dark winter months rapidly adorn us, 4th & Orange are guaranteed to bring you a slice of California coastline and brighten up your life with their tropical summer sound– which spiels relatable, real-life experiences. “The goal of our music is to bring light into other’s dark situations. Our music reminds others that in the dark you can be the light.”
They released their debut single ‘Girl Next Door’ – co-produced by GRAMMY® Award-nominee DJ Flict (Sublime w/Rome, Wiz Khalifa, Lauryn Hill) and Mark Pelli (Magic!, Chris Brown, J Cole) – back in June this year and have been making huge waves ever since! The debut music video surpassed 2.5 million views, hitting the 2 million mark in less than three weeks! Pretty damn impressive, right?
The band have signed to Latium Ent/Atlantic records and have been super busy all year! They’ve recently dropped their single ‘Junky’ and are gearing up for plenty of performances in 2020! They’re already listed to perform at Reggae Rise Up in Florida in March and Arizona Roots Music & Arts Festival in February, so now is the perfect time to snuggle up in your room, turn the volume down on the world and turn the volume up on 4th & Orange. And most importantly, just let yourself stan them because they’re pretty fricking talented. And we at The Honey POP always stan talent!
