Since releasing her latest single last week, everyone including us cannot wait for Selena Gomez’s new album. Set to be her third release, SG3 has yet to be confirmed, but there’s a lot of info sprawled around the interwebs that links into the upcoming record. Here’s what we know so far.
1. The album took quite a long time to make
Following her appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ back in June, Selena told Jimmy Fallon that her latest record took basically four years to work on and compile. Thankfully, it’s done and finally sounds just how she wants it.
2. We could have had it back in 2017
When chatting with Ryan Seacrest this week, Sel said that she was actually planning on releasing the album two years ago, but felt that it probably wouldn’t have been right.
“It’s been four years since I’ve been working on this album and it’s actually perfect timing because I was going to release it two years ago and none of the words that I’m speaking would have existed.”
Though it’s been a lengthy wait, we know we will treasure every bit of the record!
3. Julia Michaels could be featured
Any Selenator knows that singer-songwriter Julia Michaels is friends with Miss Gomez and have previously collaborated when she featured on Julia’s song ‘Anxiety’. They also wrote Selena’s hit song ‘Good For You’ together. An update collaboration from the girls isn’t that much of an unrealistic expectation. We are 100% here for it.
4. We’re getting a new sound!
Selena has also revealed that this album is going to have a different sound compared to her 2015 album, ‘Revival’.
“I think there’s always going to be a sense of strong pop in my music, but I definitely explored more with electric guitar, a lot of more soulful tracks underneath things, acoustic guitar, it all kind of hits different places that I feel like is my lane for music,” she told Fallon. “It’s just, ‘live in that world and mellow.’ YES, Selena! We love that she’s keeping it fresh.
5. You think you love her two latest releases? You’re not ready for what’s coming!
While we are totally in love with Gomez’s comeback, she’s let fans know that the best is yet to come. “All I know is these two songs were me wrapping up a chapter in a pretty little bow and the rest of the album is all about where I am now and where I’m going. So, in my opinion, these are great songs, but I’ve saved the best for later.”
We cannot wait for this album!
