He’s done it! Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Someone You Loved’ is Officially Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100!

After weeks of campaigning to be America’s Sweetheart to win the nation over, Lewis Capaldi reaches number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Someone You Loved’!

The chart success comes just after becoming number one on US radio top 40, which is going into its second week. ‘Someone You Loved’ spent 2 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot AC Radio chart, No. 1 on the U.S. Shazam chart for the eighth consecutive week and hit top 5 on the U.S. Spotify chart, with worldwide streams rapidly approaching the 2 billion mark. Yet he’s still just Lewis from the block.

Lewis is the first British person in two years to hit the number 1 spot on the Billboard’s Hot 100 and first Scottish person in 11 years, so we can totally get behind his over-the-top hype!

The past year has been absolutely wild for Mr Capaldi. He was hailed as 2018 Vevo DSVR Artist to Watch and 2019 Vevo LIFT artist, long listed for the BBC Sound Of 2019 Poll, and won Breakthrough Artist of the Year honors at the Scottish Music Awards. Not to mention he was named an MTV UK PUSH Ones To Watch as well as toured with Ed Sheeran, Bastille, Rag’n’Bone Man, Niall Horan, and Sam Smith. And though he jokingly acts bitter about not winning the Critics’ Choice award at the BRITs, he’s definitely won the hearts of the world.

As we vastly approach the end of 2019, the year is far from over for Lewis. He’s nominated for an MTV EMA, a BBC R1 Teen Award and is currently on a sold-out UK and European tour. Though, if you match with him on Tinder, you may be given a couple of free tickets. Worth a shot, eh?

Congratulations Lewis! We are so proud of ya, ma sen!
