2019 has been a hell of a year for Lewis Capaldi, so it’d be no surprise if The Scottish Beyoncé ended it with a bang. It’s rumored that he could be getting one of the biggest Christmas gigs around!
For those of you who aren’t from the US or don’t follow a substantial amount of Brits on Twitter, John Lewis is a major department store in the UK and every year they put on a phenomenal, all singing all dancing commercial that everyone talks about for the entire Christmas period. The song also tends to do well on the charts, sometimes getting the number one spot.
According to betting site Betway, America’s Sweetheart is the favorite to sing the legendary song that accompanies the ad, beating out the likes of Ed Sheeran and Jorja Smith.
The betting stores in the UK are often used for sports but also host bets on the likes of who will win ‘The X Factor’, who will win ‘Love Island’, so on and so forth.
To get a feel of how truly magical these ads really are, here’s some of our favorites from over the years…
Any British reader here will know that when this is on, it really is the countdown to Christmas!
The odds for this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert are as follows:
-Lewis Capaldi 2/5
-Ed Sheeran 9/4
-Sam Smith 4/1
-Lily Allen 7/1
-Tom Odell 10/1
-Jorja Smith 16/1
We’re really hoping it’s Capaldi who gets the gig! With his incredible chart success for ‘Someone You Loved’ and breaking America (as well as winning over the world), there’s a good chance that he could be bagging a Christmas number one.
Who do you think will be singing the John Lewis ad’s theme song? Is Lewis a worthy contender? Or should someone else be given the spot? Predictions in the comments below or tweet us @TheHoneyPOP please!
