Bastille & Alessia Cara Collab Takes Us To “Another Place!”

When we heard about this we were shook! Bastille & Alessia Cara have come together for the track ‘Another Place’ and all I can say is wow! My mind is blown!

In this new version, released on November 1st, we are not only blessed with the presence of Bastille but Alessia’s stunning vocals on ‘Another Place’

The original track- a tender look at a fleeting encounter- features on the band’s newest album ‘Doom Days’

“I’d always heard ‘Another Place’ as a duet and wanted it to be a story told from two perspectives. It’s not something we’ve ever done, outside of our mix-tapes, but we are huge fans of Alessia’s – her voice and her songwriting are so distinct and brilliant – and we sent it to her to see if she’d be up for jumping on it with us,” Front man of Bastille Dan says, “We love her verse and everything that she’s brought to the song – I think she really elevates it. We all got to spend some time together in her home town of Toronto recently, where she joined us on stage to sing ‘Another Place’ together for the first time, and where we shot the surrealist video for the song. It’s been really great to bring a new voice into the Doom Days universe, and we’re so happy that Alessia was up for coming along with us for it.”

Prior to the release of this track Alessia said, “I’ve been a Bastille fan since their early stuff so doing this song with them was genuinely so exciting. I met Dan last year and we got on really well. We talked about doing something together and he sent me the song a little while later. I loved the concept and thought it was both sonically and lyrically really great, as all Bastille stuff is. It all came together pretty naturally, and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

With Dan’s insanely beautiful vocals and the addition of Alessia’s feature, this took this track to another level of power. Paired with a moving video and the lyricism of this song, this version feels like this is how it always should have been and I cannot stop listening!

[…] Alessia Cara has one wish this Christmas: for her relationship to make it to the holidays. Alessia sings about her relationship woes in her husky voice to strings and a big band which are topped with festival bells and a chorus of back-in vocals, but thankfully though the lyrics are pretty sad, the plead comes in an upbeat tempo so you can still get your jingle on while wiping away your tears. […] Bastille released a rock song that totally slaps??? Called ‘WHAT YOU GONNA DO???’ Yes they did and we’re so here for it! It was an unexpected turn in their music for the fans, but we love how they’re being the rock band they’ve always wanted to be. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the song is so so good. When bands go in different directions, it can be difficult to adapt to, but this feels so good and so natural to listen to. […]
