Yesterday we were blessed with the release of the official music video by Isabela Merced for her catchy song, ‘Papi.’
It is definitely an infectious and fun pop song that will get you in dancing mode. With Isabela’s sweet vocals and fun upbeat pace, it’s definitely a certifiable bop!
Speaking about her music Isabela says “Different elements of my Peruvian culture, from the coast to the Amazons, are incorporated into every aspect of my music, wardrobe, dancing, and storytelling of my videos.” Which is definitely evident within the video for ‘Papi’ and we’re here for it!
Also discussing the inspiration behind this video Isabela continues “The “Papi” music video included a modern twist of choreography and wardrobe elements from a Peruvian dance called Marinera, such as the faldas and the pañuelos. The props in the video were inspired from a Peruvian tradition, the Diablada. I want to introduce everyone to the rich culture of my family’s heritage.”
‘Papi’ kicks off a solo career for Isabella, under the name Merced as a tribute to her grandmother Yolanda Merced and her Peruvian heritage.
If you are thinking I recognize Isabela you would not be mistaken! The 18 year old performer has appeared in ‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado’ and ‘Instant Family’ to a starring turn in ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’ and in Netflix’s highly-anticipated ‘Let it Snow’
