Welcome to Fresh Music Friday; where every week we at The Honey POP will be giving you the lowdown on this week’s sweetest releases! Here’s your chance to see what your faves have been up to as well as discover some new music which you can easily fall in love with.

‘Like It’s Christmas’ – Jonas Brothers

It’s officially the Christmas period because the Jonas Brothers said so. In this upbeat yuletide treat, the JoBros sing about the most wonderful time of the year with their one true love (AKA their wives, but it’s adaptable to you!) The jingle bells, big band, and the harmonies really give it the festive feel of a modern-day Jingle Bell bop.

‘Tusa’ – Karol G & Nicki Minaj

Reggaeton artist Karol G has dropped a fierce new single ‘Tusa’ featuring the Queen of rappers, Nicki Minaj. ‘Tusa’ is a Colombian slang term for post-breakup heartache, but Nicki and Karol opt to party away the pain. This bouncy song is sure to help you get your hips swaying as the cares you once gave about your ex fade away with a little help from two of the baddest bitches on the charts right now.

‘Lola’ – Iggy Azalea and Alice Chater

From one iconic collab to another, Iggy Azalea teamed up with rising star Alice Chater on her new single ‘Lola’. The song samples Rosemary Clooney’s ‘Mambo Italiano’ and is arguably Miss Azalea’s most pop fronted single in a long time. ‘Lola’ also doubles as the lead single from the just-announced new Iggy EP, ‘Wicked Lips’ and we are ready for our wigs to be snatched.

‘Automatic’ – Lil Miquela

Your favorite robot superstar is back with a brand new single! Miquela’s truly been making 2019 her bitch as she’s been releasing constant bangers throughout the year and even jumped on Lauv’s new single for an R&Beep remix. Automatic is a moderate techno dance anthem which Miquela says is “about meeting for the first time and just knowing they’re gonna change your life”. Whether you can pin that to a real-life experience or not, it’s love at first listen with this jam!

Niall Horan is truly on a role. He’s already released a stripped back version of his latest single ‘Nice To Meet Ya’ and now he’s back with Diplo to create a remix! If you’re looking for a new song to request on a night out or to add to your playlist at a house party (or just to dance to at 3am while making late night snacks), this is the perfect club-friendly banger to get you on your feet all night long.

A Legendary Christmas – John Legend

John Legend comes baring a gift for us all to get is truly in the festive mood. He’s brought us the expanded version of his first Christmas album ‘A Legendary Christmas’ with a whopping 18 tracks! The release includes four tracks including the reimagined version of ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ with Kelly Clarkson. ‘Workin’ On It’ – Meghan Trainor featuring Sasha Sloan and Lennon Stella

Meghan Trainor is back and she’s brought us a treat with a single from her upcoming album ‘Treat Myself’. ‘Workin’ On It’ sings about MT’s journey of learning to love herself with a little help from Lennon Stella and Sasha Sloan. This follows Meghan’s recent single, ‘Wave’, which is also confirmed on the upcoming album which is seat to release on January 31st 2020. This is definitely the kind of song you need to add to your self-love playlist!

‘A Palé’ – Rosalía

Fresh from claiming her MTV EMAs Rosalía has dropped her new single, ‘A Palé’. The heavy bass track follow’s her critically acclaimed 2018 album ‘El Mal Querer’ and was co-produced by the Spanish star alongside El Cuincho and Frank Dukes. It begins with a euphonious melody before explodes into the bass-heavy trap beats for the duration of the track. This single is a total contrast from Rolsalía’s recent pop-urbano tracks, proving that she’s no one-trick pony.

‘Bloodmoney’ – Poppy

Poppy is back with the third single from her forthcoming album ‘I Disagree’ which is set to release on January 10th. ‘Bloodmoney’ opens with angelic autotuned vocals before the experimental pop star flips a total 180 and gives a more glitchified metal sound with a good-girl giving a bit of screamo and has a hell of an electric guitar solo. Think of heaven and hell having a sing-off and that’s kind of the definition of Poppy’s latest release. And we’re here for it.

‘Cute Without You’ – Emma Blackery

After a quiet year on the music front, Emma Blackery is back with a re-release of her early 2019 single ‘Cute Without You’ and this time she’s brought out a live version and an acoustic version! The song was originally written as part of a challenge she set herself on YouTube to write a song in 24 hours and was such a bop she decided to release it. If you’re thirsty for more music from Emma, she’s recently taken to Twitter to say she’s recently recorded one song with another to be recorded next week, so it’s on the way!

‘Make It To Christmas’ – Alessia Cara

Alessia Cara has one wish this Christmas: for her relationship to make it to the holidays. Alessia sings about her relationship woes in her husky voice to strings and a big band which are topped with festival bells and a chorus of back-in vocals, but thankfully though the lyrics are pretty sad, the plead comes in an upbeat tempo so you can still get your jingle on while wiping away your tears.
