Up-and-coming music duo Young Bombs have released their music video for ‘Better Day’s featuring Aloe Blacc and it’s sure to give you a laugh and a half!
Get a glimpse of the pair’s hilarious sense of humor with this vintage 80s infused aesthetic as they battle it out to win the heart of the same woman. After a day at the beach, the pair spot the blonde beauty and compete in a Looney Tunes sense of action to try and be the succeeding man in a bid for her attention before it gets wildly out of hand. We’re willing to send everyone a free air guitar who spots Aloe Blacc’s cameo…

Since ‘Better Day’ dropped two weeks ago, it’s truly been thriving. In just 24 hours, it surpassed a total of 100,000 streams as plays-to-date near one million. It also featured on big playlists including Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’ in 27 territories, ‘Cratediggers’ in three, and ‘Mint Canada in two.’ Meanwhile, Apple touted it on ‘Breaking Dance’, ‘DanceXL’ and ‘New Music Daily’, while Amazon showcased it on ‘Brand New Music’, ‘Fresh Dance’, and ‘Nectar’. Get it, lads!
If you’re wondering why the name ‘Young Bombs’ may be a little familiar but can’t quite put your finger on it, allow us to help. Before making the big leap into creating their own original music, Martin and Tristan were best known for their iconic remixes on some of the biggest names in the pop world including Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Alessia Cara, Post Malone, Nick Jonas, and Fletcher, to name a few. They even gained the support of Tiësto, Kygo, and Don Diablo, so they’ve already got an awesome reputation!
Now the pair are venturing out to make their own music and 2019 has already seen them release three singles prior to ‘Better Day’ and honestly? They all slap.
We caught up with Young Bombs to talk about the new music video, the reason behind their big career shift and what decade they’d love to transport to in order to make a name for themselves in a different era.
Hey guys! Can you introduce yourselves in 240 characters (AKA the length of a tweet) or less?
Hi, we are Young Bombs! We’re from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Northern Hemisphere, Earth, Milky Way, Space, someone’s hard drive. We consist of Martin Kottmeier and Tristan Norton. We’re both taken so back off ladies.
You’ve been working with the likes of Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish, and Lady Gaga to remix their songs and created epic bangers. What was the deciding point for you to take the leap this year to create your own music?
Remixing is fun and all but as an artist you want a song to be your own and have your fans connect with your creations. It’s surreal showing up to a new city and seeing fans sing your lyrics back to you.
Great point! If you could pick any of the artists you’ve remixed to feature on one of your original tracks, who would it be and why?
Probably Post Malone. He really is one of the most talented artists to come out in the last few years. His voice and melodies are so unique.
We totally agree. You’ve just teamed up with Aloe Blacc on your latest single ‘Better Day’ – what was the inspiration behind the track?
We’ve always been into different types of world music and wanted to make a song we could imagine hearing wherever we traveled with a timeless message. After we made the initial demo, we always visualized Aloe singing the vocal and luckily for us, that became a reality!
So we absolutely love the contrast of the happy honeymoon phase of the song as opposed to the competitive Wile-E-Coyote vs Roadrunner theme in the music video. We have to ask, what was the reason for this approach?
We received a bunch of different treatments from directors and what stood out about Lillie’s was how the concept was the complete opposite of what you’d expect from the song. It also made us laugh so we knew had a similar sense of humor. If you watch our Instagram stories, we’re kind of insane sometimes…
The best way to be! When it comes to working in the studio, what’s are 5 things you absolutely need with you to help you focus and/or unwind on your breaks?
Food, coffee, sleep, clean air, and a life-sized blow-up David Duchovny
So, just the essentials then! If you could go back in time and be artists of a different decade, which decade would you choose to establish yourselves in their biggest genres?
Probably some new wave band in the 80s like ‘The Cure’ or ‘Depeche Mode’. We love all decades but the 80s really brought electronic music to the mainstream.
What an era that was! What is one thing you would say to your past selves back in high school before Young Bombs became who they are today?
See this guitar and these drums? Yeah, you’re going to be making 99% of your music on a computer so heads up, you little shit.
Forward but to the point, we like it! We’re called The Honey POP and we’d love if you could tell us one sweet thing about each other!
Tristan: Martin has a very positive energy and always brings happiness into the room. – Tristan
Martin: Tristan always knows the right thing to say. He’s always my number one to go to for advice in any situation.
N’aww! The new decade is vastly approaching! What kind of music would you like to see make it big in the 2020s?
Resurgence of Creed. Can they take me higher? They sure as fuck can.
Finally, what can we expect from you in the new year?
More music, less clothing.
Thanks guys! ‘Better Days’ is a certified bop. We can’t wait to see what you do next.
