5 Things We Loved About ‘Tongue Tied’ from Yungblud, Blackbear, and Marshmello!

Tongue Tied

Three legends back at it again, and this time with a bop of the century that they all worked on together to give us something new to blast out of our car radios and sing in our bedrooms as if we were a part of it. And not only that but a sick new music video to go along with it too? What did we do to deserve these guys? Is there a place I can leave a thank you note? Let me know. Pardon the pun, but these kinds of blessings just leave us “tongue tied.”

Yesterday Marshmello released his new single “Tongue Tied” featuring Yungblud and blackbear, landing the cover of Apple’s New Music Daily Playlist and debuting on Apple Music’s Beats Radio 1 with Zane Lowe. The video, also stars Emmy nominee Joey King (The Act, Life in Pieces, The Kissing Booth), reached a million views overnight and I can absolutely see why. Have you seen it? What? Do you need me to give you a list of reasons why you should go give it a little watch and listen? I mean… I guess I could… I’m not really sure where I’d start-

1. It Has An Important Message

As with anything Yungblud creates or is a part of, both the song and video have important meaning to it. It’s meant to empower us and make us realize we’re not alone. We may feel like we don’t have a voice or people aren’t listening to us, but we aren’t the only ones. Together we do have a voice, louder than anything else.

2. The Music Video Is Amazing

Directed by Christian Breslauer and shot in Los Angeles, this story takes place in a dystopian future where all outspoken members of society are tracked down by a militarized police force and physically muted with a metal plate over their mouth. Watching it feels like you’re watching a real movie, and let me tell you, I want that movie. Come on, Yungblud‘s got some acting under his belt, let’s make it happen people!

3. Yungblud and blackbear Sound Pretty Damn Good Together

It’s not a combination I would have thought of before, but now that we have it, I’m in love with it. Visually and musically, they make a great pair and we wouldn’t mind hearing more from the two of them. Just dropping hints left and right here, guys. A couple of kings thriving together, we love to see it!

4. Well … Marshmello Being “Muted”

Now this one is just plain amusing. If you look at promo shots for the song, it appears Marshmello’s been caught. He’s got a metal plate over his mouth too … his fake mouth … that he doesn’t speak out of … and that’s far too big for the plate. We’re not sure what that police force thinks they’re accomplishing, but we suppose it’s the effort that counts.

5. Yungblud, Yungblud, Yungblud!!

Alright, you got me, extremely biased writer here. Can you blame me? Yungblud gets better and better with every new project he puts his mind to and brings to life with his unique voice. You can hear the growth with every song, with every new way he finds to put his talent to use. I always look forward to hearing what he comes up with next, and if you’re discovering him through this song, I think you’ll be impressed too.

So what are you waiting for? Get to watching! It’s not like you don’t have all kinds of valid reasons to do it or anything (You’re welcome).

What did you think of the song and video? Did it leave you “tongue tied?” What was your favorite part of it? We’d love to hear by tweeting us @thehoneypop or visiting us on Facebook!
