Celebrating A Decade Of Music: Here’s Everything We Know About The AMAs 2019

It’s that time of year again! Music awards season has started and MTV has some absolute bangers lined up for this year’s AMAs.We have all the hot news including performances, nominees and extra special guests.

And the 2019 AMA nominees are…

Leading the pack as the most nominated artist of 2019 is Post Malone (‘Artist of the year’, ‘Collaboration of the year’, ‘Favorite Male Artist- Pop/Rock’)

Following him with an equally impressive 6 nominations apiece are Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish. Particularly as the latter is a first-time nominee this year.

Post Malone and Ariana Grande, go head to head for ‘Artist of the Year’ alongside Halsey, Drake and Taylor Swift.

Not only does Taylor Swift have 5 nominations, but she is also being honored with ‘Artist of the Decade’. In addition, (as if that wasn’t impressive enough) If she wins at least 2 of the 5 categories. She stands to beat Michael Jackson’s record for most AMA wins of all time. YAS QUEEN.

She’s also set to perform a medley of her hits.

Which artists are performing on the night?

There is a plethora of talent lined up for our entertainment. Honestly, we really want tickets ourselves, its that epic!

Each announcement got us more excited. Firstly we have pop princess Selena Gomez, returning with her first tv performance in 2 years and she’s giving us an exclusive premiere of new music!

Further artists to be announced are Lizzo in her first-ever AMAs performance. But she isn’t the only one to pop her AMA performance cherry, Billie Eilish is also making her debut at the AMAs.

But wait, there’s more. If that wasn’t exciting enough Dua Lipa, Camilla Cabello, Thomas Rhett and Kesha ft Big Freedia (who takes to the AMAs stage for the first time since 2013) have all been added to the lineup.

Joining them is 90’s legend and global superstar Shania Twain. She hasn’t performed at an awards show in 16 years, but she is back with a bang. The five-time Grammy winner will perform a medley of her greatest hits as the show celebrates the last 10 years of music.

The latest performer to be announced are the Jonas Brothers, who themselves have had a pretty incredible year. As well as being nominated they will be broadcasting a live performance from their sold-out show in Boston. With the help of T-Mobile, who will also be sharing backstage Jobros footage all night via their socials!

Also announced to perform on the night are:

  • Christina Aguilera ft A Great Big World
  • Post Malone ft Ozzy Osbourne as well as Travis Scott & Watt are all debuting world television premiere collabs.
  • And Rock Legends Green Day return to the stage with a masterpiece career-spanning medley performance.

Now all we need is a host…

Unsurprisingly, with a line up this big MTV did not disappoint with their choice of host for the event. None other than award-winning singer/songwriter and R&B queen Ciara!! (Did we mention she’s multi-platinum?) She was last at the AMA’s delivering an energetic routine and a rather impressive collab with Missy Elliot at the 2018 AMAs.

She returns as Host for what I’m sure will be an unforgettable evening, celebrating the last decade in music.

There will also be exclusive content (from who is attending, to what they are wearing and much much more!) live from the red carpet before the show begins. Hosting duties will be shared by:

  • Lauren Jauregui
  • Sofia Carson
  • Nick Viall
  • AJ Gibson
  • Raja Kumari
  • Jaymes Vaughan!

The AMAs 2019 will be live from Los Angeles on Sunday, November 24 at 8pm EST on ABC.
