November 20th is a special day, ladies and gents! You know how much we adore Rihanna; with her success in fashion, beauty, and music, she is a force to be reckoned with. Ten years ago today, Rihanna’s album Rated R dropped, and we are still not over it. To celebrate, we are going to give you our top 10 favorite songs that are crucial for your playlist with some being on Rated R as well!
10. ‘Pon de Replay’
A song needed on every workout or dance playlist, ‘Pon de Replay’ is a bop that will never get old. It was one of Rihanna’s first singles, as it is found on her very first album “Music of the Sun.” This classic will never fail to put you in a dancing mood!
9. ‘What’s My Name’ (feat. Drake)
This is the first track we’ve received from this iconic duo. Rihanna’s teamed up with Drake to record one of the most catchiest party anthems, ‘What’s My Name.’ Present on her fifth album, Loud, ‘What’s My Name’ caused Rihanna to be the first female solo artist to have five consecutive singles in the number one spot. You read me, five! You see why we have to stan?
8. ‘Wait Your Turn’
The wait is over; we’re finally down to number eight! ‘Wait Your Turn’ can be found on Rihanna’s fourth album, Rated R, and if you need a song to make you feel bad-ass and motivated, this song will do the job!
If you need a more bad-ass, Rihanna-filled visual, check out the music video here.
7. ‘Needed Me’
At one point, ‘Needed Me’ was a catchy anthem for mainly women once ANTI was dropped, and it still is! You may want to keep this song on a few playlists, whether you’re in the post-break-up stage or just need a confidence booster. You can thank us later for this one. One message we always get from the song? Worry less on relationships and more on yourself, sis!
6. ‘Photographs’ (feat. Will.I.Am)
In need of a song that will leave you in your feelings but is also a bop? Give ‘Photographs’ a listen, and we promise you won’t be disappointed! Originally, it was suppose to be on The Black Eyed Peas’s album THE E.N.D.. Apparently, Rihanna loved it so much, she wanted it for her own album! We can’t even blame her, though; this song is simply just beautiful. Perhaps it would be a good song to duet with someone, if you know what I’m sayin’.
Even though we can’t relate to this song quite yet, we are in love with this track. Also found on ANTI, we learned in ‘Pose’ that Rihanna is loaded. Okay, Rih Rih, we get it! Hopefully that will be us in a few years or so! Nevertheless, you should always keep this song around if you ever want to diva-strut or feel like you’re priceless! We’re all worth a million bucks, regardless of whether we have a million bucks or not!
4. ‘Hard’ (feat. Jeezy)
Another song for a confidence boost is ‘Hard.’ Also featured on Rated R, ‘Hard’ is a huge banger on the album, and it still is! But honestly, we’re not sure there’s one that’s not still a banger. It’s catchy beat and rapping from Rihanna will remind you just why we she goes by the name of “Bad Gal Ri Ri.” Period.
Want to see just how bad she is? Check out her music video here.
3. ‘Love On The Brain’
Here, we have another song to cope whenever you’re in your feelings. It’s also a great song for karaoke, whether it be with out with your friends, in the shower, or in the car! Let’s not forget to mention that her vocals in the track are insane, which is pretty much why it’s a great song to sing at the top of your lungs.
‘Diamonds’ is an instant classic from her seventh album Unapologetic. Covered by many artists and heard nearly everywhere, ‘Diamonds’ deserves the number two spot on the list not only for her angel-like vocals, but for the beautiful meaning behind it as well. We recommend this song for karaoke as well, but we think it’s best to belch out your gorgeous vocals while you’re showering!
Last, but certainly not least, is ‘Disturbia.’ The song that will never die – not even in the 2020s! ‘Disturbia’ is found on Good Girl Gone Bad, and it’s our number one favorite classic from Rihanna! Not only is there a dark, yet fire visual for it, but it also became a top 10 hit in over twenty countries world-wide. Werk! It also led to her winning her first GRAMMY Award for Best Rap/ Song Collaboration. You could never turn down a bop like this one.
We still can’t believe it’s already been 10 years of Rihanna’s Rated R! We hope that soon we will get some more music, but until then, we’ll be jamming out to these tracks as well as her others!
