Spotify Announces First Ever Music Award Show To Air in March

Mexico City is going to be the home to the very first Spotify music award show, and it is going to be like no other!

The only way your favorite artists are going to win is by how many streams they have! This means that if you want your favorite band to win, those stream have to be playing nonstop!

Not only is this award show different because of how they are casting votes through streams, but they’re also not counting sales, or user- engagement! Insane!

We are all here for the open fan-polling award shows, but we are loving how genuine to the music this sounds!

“Your plays, patterns, and habits will help determine the award categories, finalists, and winners for the Spotify Awards by providing a true reflection of what fans are listening to.”

Save the Date!

The date for the music award show has been set for March 5th of next year in the biggest streaming city in the world, Mexico City. The streaming service has paired with WarnerMedia’s Turner Latin America division to broadcast the show live. You can tune in on TNT if you live in the U.S or in the Spanish-language countries in the region.

There is no word on who (or if artists) will be performing at the awards, nonetheless, we are excited to hear more announcements from Spotify!

Do you plan on tuning into the awards? Who do you plan on streaming? Be sure to let us know by tweeting us at @thehoneypop or visiting us on Facebook!
