We have yet another talented artist who is needed in your playlists asap! Meet Amber Brain— the British singer/songwriter known for her stage name as ‘The Japanese House’. Earlier this year, she had released her debut album “Good at Falling”, which she exposed her vulnerability and dark experiences she had faced. In her new single ‘Chewing Cotton Wool’, we hear the vulnerability behind it, but the message itself can be hard to decipher.
In ‘Chewing Cotton Wool’, Brain seems to have someone on her mind. She thinks about her so much that everything seems to remind her of her. Perhaps this someone had a huge impact on her life. As said in the lyrics, “Shes the trailer for a film. She’s the curtain at the end. She’s the sound of your own voice.”
It’s hard to tell whether or not Amber is trying to forget about her. Even if she was, it appears that everything reminds her of the girl. A dreamy, lightheaded vibe and relatable to all, ‘Chewing Cotton Wool’ was made for your post-breakup playlist or your chill playlist. It’s so relaxing, you could even sleep to it (No lie).
There’s more where that came from!
If you’re loving in The Japanese House like we are, you can check out all her other music on Apple Music or Spotify down below! She is supposedly releasing an EP in early 2020, so keep your eyes open! We’ll be one of the first to let you know.
The Japanese House is known for tugging heartstrings with her soothing and textured songs. Since her beginning in 2015, she has gained over 200 millions streams on Spotify, as she deserves it! Many fans and critics had many positive things to say about her work, and we totally agree with them!
“Her half-decade musical stretch has culminated in a startling alternative pop project, pregnant with anxieties and melancholy, tales of break-ups, losses and past relationships.”
“Whispering and buzzing synths and guitars wash over busy drums and percussive synth programming, delightfully filling every perceptible aural space. Headphones are recommended required.”
The Japanese House creates music that is different from the rest, and trust us when we say this: You do not want to miss out!
