What a year it’s been for Harry Styles! From hosting the Met Gala to dropping his second album – now it’s been confirmed that he played a secret Stormtrooper in the latest Star Wars movie and we are GAGGING.
In a tweet, Mark Hamill AKA Luke Skywalker himself apologized for spoiling the secret Stormtrooper along with an article to E! News where the rumor was debunked and proven true.
I deeply apologize for dropping the #SecretStylestrooper SPOILER after begging you to please, Please, PLEASE avoid them altogether. Still- the mystery remains: Which one is Harry? My lips are sealed because The Shush Is With Me.🤫#TheRiseOfStyleswalker https://t.co/o1O4D1gORV— Mark HoHoHoHamill (@HamillHimself) December 19, 2019
In the original tweet, Hamill posted photos of previous Stormtrooper cameos in past episodes of the famous franchise. One of the pics also featured a snap of Mr Styles in the Stormtrooper costume he wore to a party with Kacey Musgraves and Maggie Rogers.
Hamill wrote “Tonight #TheRiseOfSkywalker Premier finally brings closure to my dysfunctional family! Wonder who’ll be the #SecretStormtrooper in this one? Considering they’ve all been UK Superstars (2 Royals+2 Actors… but still no singer, all clues point in one direction: #Stylestrooper”
WE. ARE. DECEASED.
For those of you unfamiliar, often the Star Wars franchise has a celebrity taking on a cameo role of a Stormtrooper, wearing the iconic white suit of armor without anyone knowing who it is or which one they play. Here’s a few famous faces who have taken on the role before…
Tom Hardy donned the Stormtroopers uniform back in 2017 in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But it turns out his scene only ended up deleted! Even though we wouldn’t have seen his face, we’re still pretty devastated.
Daniel may be known for his role as 007, but perhaps his most top-secret role was playing a secret Stormtrooper back in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015.
Prince William & Prince Harry
It seems that no-one is too good to play a Stormtrooper – even royalty! Prince William and Prince Harry both took on the role for Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 2017. But like their co-star Tom Hardy, their scene ended up on the cutting room floor and didn’t make the actual film. Imagine cutting out members of The Royal Family – can’t relate.
The lead singer of iconic British boyband Take That, Sir Gary Barlow, was another of the Stormtroopers in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But the thing with these masked characters all looking the same is, you’re not even sure on which one is you! Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Gary said: “I went twice to see the movie and missed it!” he said. “In the end, I needed the pause button to actually see myself!”
For some reason, while everyone is making a fuss about Harry Styles being a Secret Stormtrooper, people have forgotten that his good pal Ed Sheeran was also slated to play one in Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker, too! Ed was seen in a teaser for the promo of the hugely-anticipated third film in the final Star Wars trilogy. But again, no one knows which one he is because of the helmet situation. GAH!
So, whaddya reckon? Will you be heading to cinemas to see Harry (or not see him, we guess?) take on his cameo role? Can you name any other Secret Stormtroopers? Let us know down in the comments below or by tweeting us @TheHoneyPOP
