10 Most Inspiring Lyrics From Selena Gomez’ Album ‘Rare’

Selena Gomez released her long-awaited third studio album, Rare, just last Friday. We don’t know about you guys, but we’ve had the album on repeat since its release. We just can’t get enough of the raw emotion evident in every song. The pop star has been interacting with fans on twitter, and she said the biggest thing she hopes fans take away from the album is that it’s about “Self-love, acceptance, and empowerment.”

We have to agree with Sel, and in honor of this, we have compiled a list of the 10 most inspirational lyrics from Selena’s new album.

“… I Know That I’m Special, and I’ll Bet There’s Somebody Out There To Tell Me I’m Rare”

The first lyric on the list comes from the title track for the album, ‘Rare‘. This self-empowerment anthem is all about independence and self-love, and how you should never let anyone take advantage of you. Sel is tired of being taken for granted, and we’ve never related to something more in our lives.

“With My Emotions Undressed, I’m Going In With Everything To Dance Again”

These lyrics stem from the electro-pop dance track, ‘Dance Again’. This anthem is about bouncing back from heartbreak and learning to fall in love with yourself again. Something that’s extremely hard to do after being devastatingly heartbroken, but you can’t wallow forever. So get back out there and make yourself happy!

“Took A Few Year’s To Soak Up The Tears, But Look At Her Now”

These empowering lyrics come from the upbeat dance track, ‘Look At Her Now.’ The anthem is all about becoming a much stronger person after a traumatic breakup. It’s about embracing the new you and owning it. Selena did just that with this power anthem, and we are living for it!

“I Needed To Lose You To Find Me … I Needed To Hate You To Love Me”

‘Lose You To Love Me’ is a song full of inspiration. A beautiful, self-love ballad about how sometimes it takes losing someone you love to discover who you truly are, and how to fully love yourself. Self-love is often a hard concept to master, but in this track, Selena sings about how letting go can help you find who you are. An exquisitely beautiful song through and through.

“I’m One In A Billion, Baby, Don’t You Agree?”

‘Ring’ is yet another self-empowerment anthem. In the upbeat power ballad, Selena sings about acknowledging your self-worth and not letting outside factors influence you or your decision’s. Never let anyone make you feel inferior, or less than a queen. That’s a beautiful concept we can get behind, Sel.

“If I Show You My Demons and We Dive Into The Deep End Would We Crash and Burn Like Every Time Before?”

These lyrics come from the heartfelt track, ‘Vulnerable.’ In this song Selena sings about someone taking advantage of her and her feelings, and being unsure about the intentions of the other person. However, she would rather stay vulnerable then lose the person from her life. A relatable situation in many relationships these days.

“What Hurts The Most Is People Can Go From People You Know To People You Don’t”

In ‘People You Know’, Sel croons about losing someone that used to be your entire world. She wishes that things had ended differently, but some people just weren’t meant to be in your life, and that’s okay. I think we can all agree that we’ve had people go from people we knew to people we don’t anymore. Sometimes people have to walk out of your life so you can grow as a person. There’s nothing more important than that.

“No Self-Sabotage, No Letting My Thoughts Run, Me and This Spiral Are Done”

‘Let Me Get Me’ is a self-empowerment dance anthem. Selena sings about wanting to be happy and finally feeling a sense of freedom from toxic thoughts and emotions. She feels like she is finally free to love herself and live a better, happier life. Nothing is going to bring her down, not even herself. Good for you girl, work it!

“When I’m Without You, I Don’t Overthink It, I Just Carry On”

Self-love and acceptance radiate through ‘Cut You Off.’ In this smooth pop number, Selena sings about moving on from a toxic relationship and working on feeling better about yourself. Coming out of a breakup is hard, we get it, but accepting that it’s over is the first step in allowing your heart to heal. She sings about forgetting about the past and moving on. Sel is laying it on thick in this song, but we are living for it.

“Learnin’ To Breathe, Up In The Clouds, Far From the Crowds”

Our final lyric on this list comes from the synth-pop track, ‘A Sweeter Place.’ This song is by far one of the most relatable tracks on the entire album. Selena sings about wanting to hide away from all the stress and worries of everyday life. As human beings, we can become overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of everyday life, so we need a “sweeter place” that is all our own to relax and be ourselves.

There you have it, our list of 10 most inspiring lyrics from Rare. Selena brought her A-game with this album, and we can’t wait to see what else is in the forecast for the pop superstar! If you still haven’t listened to the album, what are you waiting for? Go stream it right now!
