A new ambassador of the British Asian Trust has been recently announced at the annual Royal Dinner by The Prince of Wales, and to many people’s surprise, it was a “sun-kissed skin” Katy Perry who took the title!
As an ambassador for the British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund for India, Perry stated that she will “be a part of finding solutions to child trafficking,” and “shine my light on the work that the British Asian Trust will be doing in South Asia.”
With Perry already helping in the efforts for children’s rights during her work with UNICEF as a Goodwill Ambassador, she decided to show even more support by accepting her role as an ambassador for the British Asian Trust.
The Trust’s main focus and intention is to have the largest anti-trafficking fund in South Asia and to help with this the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) is pledging to match everything raised up to 25 million pounds!
To start, philanthropist, Natasha Poonawalla, has already announced a multimillion-pound pledge to the Fund saying, “Last year the British Asian Trust made great progress through their Child Labour Free Jaipur programme. I am pleased to be supporting their ambitious plans for the British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund for India which will serve as another tool in the fight against child trafficking.”
The funding given already has greatly helped the work in not only anti-trafficking but improving the lives, health, and education of millions in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and soon will expand into Bangladesh.
