An international superstar, Rosalía is making herself a household name. From multiple albums and huge collaborations to even starting an acting career, the 26-year-old Spaniard is making her mark in the music world. And we love her so much, we decided to let you know our top 5 reasons you should stan Rosalía.
Rosalía is from Spain, Not Latin America
Unlike many of the artists demanding airplay on Latin radio, Rosalía hails from Spain rather than Latin America. Growing up in a small town near Barcelona, Spain she moved her family to tears with her voice when she was just seven years old.
She Has Huge Collaborations Under Her Belt
Although most recently known for her collaboration with J Balvin and El Guincho ‘Con Altura,’ she’s also been featured on a track with James Blake named ‘Barefoot in the Park’ and most recently on the remix of Travis Scott’s ‘Highest in the Room’ with Lil Baby.
She’s Already Won a Few Latin Grammys
Rosalía walked out of the 2019 Latin Grammys with awards for Best Urban Song, Album of the Year and Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album. Her most recent album El Mal Querer won Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative album last month at the 2020 Grammy awards.
She’s Bringing Flamenco into MainStream Music
Classically trained in a traditional style of singing called cante flamenco, Rosalía studied at the Catalonia College of Music in Barcelona, Spain. Bringing the pain and heartbreak of the flamenco into mainstream beats, her vocals and choreography help give the classical art a new lens.
Rosalía Speaks Three Languages
Showing she doesn’t need to sing in English to hit the charts, this pop star is breaking records in singing in mainly Spanish and Catalan, although she does speak the language. And if your Spanish is a little rusty, no worries, as the music is able to tell its story by itself.
We can’t wait to see Rosalía shine even brighter as her international fanbase grows, opening her up to more opportunities as her tunes blast through more airwaves. Do you stan Rosalía? If so tweet us your favorite track @TheHoneyPOP or tell us on Facebook!
