Billy Talent releases short film ‘Forgiveness II’

Ever since Billy Talent released the first chapter of his episodic short film Forgiveness, we have been waiting anxiously for the sequel. Now, it’s finally here! The band released Chapter II on February 12, which is based on the band’s song ‘Forgiveness II’ which was released in November 2019. What’s even more special about the episode is that it features UFC stars Rose Namajunas and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Sounds like a total knockout to us!

Forgiveness I + II were the first songs that Billy Talent has released in years since they released their last album Afraid of Heights in 2016. It’s been a while since the band has returned with new music, but it was definitely worth the wait and we gladly welcome them back with open arms.

Limewire has described ‘Forgiveness I’ and ‘Forgiveness II’ as a “musical journey” and we are so excited that Billy Talent have allowed us to be a passenger on that trip and experience their musical genius.

Besides the new film, the band has continued to keep us fed with their first radio single called ‘Reckless Paradise’ from their upcoming album. It’s already been burning up the charts, taking the throne as the #1 streaming rock song in Canada last week. The track’s success doesn’t look like it’s going to be slowing down anytime soon since it has also become a Top 5 hit on the Canadian rock radio. ‘Reckless Paradise’ has become the latest addition to the already astounding list of 26 singles that have charted. This list includes several #1 and Top 5 as well as Top 10 hits, which total to almost half 1 million spins in just Canada.

If you don’t already know, Billy Talent is one of the most successful Canadian bands. In just Canada, they have sold almost 1 million albums, while internationally they have sold almost 3 million albums. Of those international albums sold, 1.3 million of them were in Germany.

The band have also been nominated 23 times for the Juno Awards and won seven times. Three of their nominations were for Rock Album of the Year and Group of the Year for Afraid of Heights, while Ian D’Sa was nominated for Producer of the Year. The lead singer of the band, Ben Kowalewicz was chosen to host the Juno Awards Gala Dinner in 2019, and Billy Talent were inducted to Legends Row, which is one of the most prestigious honors that their hometown Mississauga has.

If you loved Billy Talent’s episodic film series, don’t stress. The band has plans to release more episodes as well as additional music this year, so make sure you follow them on social media to keep up to date with them!
