The Avett Brothers Have Us ‘Swept Away’ With Musical Artwork

North Carolina’s pride and joy, folk-rock band The Avett Brothers, have unveiled the artwork for the upcoming musical Swept Away. The show is not only inspired by the music that the group creates, but will feature their songs as well. We are too excited to learn more about this nautical-themed musical– know any good sea shanties?

Premiering on June 14, 2020 at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California, the show is being put together by two Tony award-winners: screenwriter John Logan and director Michael Mayer. With such great talent working on this musical, we are certain it will be nothing less than fantastic. The general synopsis so far is that four men at sea encounter a storm that sinks their whaling ship, and the musical follows their efforts to stay alive. Our attention is hooked, pun intended.

Are you as eager to learn more about this musical as we are? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter @TheHoneyPop! In the meantime, you can join us in streaming their most recent album Closer Than Together in anticipation. Maybe throw in a few songs from Fresh Music Friday too, since there’s some real gems this week!
