Lil Baby: My Turn

Lil Baby fans went crazy this past Friday, as he just released his highly anticipated album My Turn. Featuring singles such as ‘Whoa’ and ‘Chase The Sun,’ which is also featured in the Queen & Slim Soundtrack, this is not album you want to miss. He dropped the music video for ‘Heatin Up’ featuring Young Thug on the same day of the drop (Check above). Reaching over 11 billion global streams and earning five consecutive #1 songs (with ‘Yes Indeed,’ ‘Drip Too Hard,’ ‘Close Friends,’ ‘Baby,’ and ‘Woah‘), Lil Baby is for sure the hottest in the game right now.

Jhene Aiko: ‘Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E)’

Featuring R&B singer Miguel and rapper Future, Jhene Aiko brings back her angelic vocals in her new single ‘H.O.E: Happiness Over Everything.’ I’m sorry, but we have to stan someone who is not only talented and intellect, but samples her own music! Jhene samples ‘H.O.E.’ off of her mixtape Sailing Souls. Our O.G. Jhene fans know how beautiful that mixtape truly is. Definitely keep Jhene in your music library, as she is the key component in your chill, vibey playlists!

Mark your calendars for March 6th because that’s when Jhene is also scheduled to release her new album Chilombo. Expect her to appear again next week in The Rap Up!

Swae Lee: ‘Someone Said’

This week, we finally found out what someone said in ‘Sicko Mode’ with Swae Lee’s new single ‘Someone Said.’ Apparently, what Swae Lee was trying to say was “someone said that they won’t spend it.” We’re not gonna lie to yall, if you are in love with a heavy bass trap beat, you have found your true match. Not only is the artwork dope, but so is the song. Playing it on the aux will guarentee to keep your friends lit.

TM88 & SmokePurpp: ‘RR’

GRAMMY-Award nominated producer TM88 collaborates with DJ Moon and country rapper SmokePurpp to created this short, yet effective track. Maybe too effective, as the fans, including us, are begging for more. One of the many artists representing the Atlanta trap scene, he has helped produce many other of your favorite hits, such as ‘XO Tour Llif3’ by Lil Uzi Vert and ‘Company’ by Drake. “This is my first gem of the year. The wait is over. I want to start the year off right releasing this song I did w Smokepurpp and Moon,” says TM88, “Def got many more surprises to come for the year. I been working with everyone and 88 Effect still on the way.”

Kash Doll: ‘Wake Up’

Next up is Kash Doll, who released a fun, short track ‘Wake Up.’ We’re wide awake for this one, Kash, don’t worry. If you need a catchy yet short track, whether it be to wake someone up or just to blast in the car, this song will do just the trick. Finally a song that can help us wake up, boss up, and level up all at the same time! We’re sure just one listen will give you the confidence boost you need.

James Lanning: ‘Berlin Blue’

New York City-based rapper & visual artist James Lanning opens up in ‘Berlin Blue,’ which describes one of the darkest periods of his life. Everyone goes through a deep, dark periods at some point in their lives, and if you need someone who more than likely feels your pain, give him a listen. Over a beat that will give you a lightheaded feeling, he opens up and becomes vulnerable in his pieces. There can never too many rappers who speak on mental health, and he’s definitely worth the listen.

Anime: ‘Shimmy’

You might be familiar with Anime, as he is known for his 5x Platinum hit ‘Caroline.’ Now, he is back with his new single ‘Shimmy.’ If you want a mixture of R&B and Hip-hop, this song will definitely get the job done. We’re suckers for R&B sampling, and Anime pulled off the Wu Tang Clan founder’s ‘Shimmy Shimmy Ya.’ Anime is back and is not here to play, y’all! Like he said, let’s not front, it’s his year.

‘Shimmy’ is available for streaming on all platforms here!
