We know quarantine’s got a lot of us pretty bummed out. Fortunately, Yungblud’s “Shit’s Weird Keep Calm and Carry On” livestream graced our black hearts on Monday.
Fans were treated to a live concert performance, a Q&A and special guest segments featuring Bella Thorne, Machine Gun Kelly and Oliver Tree. We at The Honey POP even hopped in the hype to bring you some ways you could have made the livestream an even better concert experience from home.
As a result of multiple Yungblud shows being canceled across 10 countries, the idea of a live-streamed show blossomed. Dom took this as an opportunity to turn a bad situation into a better one, saying, “the world is in a very weird time at the moment. Everyone doesn’t know what to do or where to turn. It’s like we are all trapped in a glass or perspex box whilst someone is playing a trick on us. My shows were getting canceled left right and centre. I miss the energy, I miss the connection, I miss my fans and family. We need each other more than ever right now and having the opportunity to interact with them taken away from me fully wasn’t even an option for me.”
You can watch Yungblud’s guitar-smashing show here:
He warmed the hearts of the 41,000 fans who watched live, getting #TheYUNGBLUDShow trending at #2 in the UK and #1 worldwide. Although we were all far apart, Yungblud fostered a sense of community and solidarity in his performance, encouraging virtual moshing, jumping on the bed during ‘Anarchist’, and screaming lyrics at the tops of our lungs, as though it were a stadium concert.
Since Monday, the livestream has gained nearly 400,000 views and given us all a light in the darkness.
We can hope that other artists whose shows have been canceled or postponed jump on the bandwagon. We don’t know about you, but some virtual corona quarantine concerts are a heck of a lot better than no concerts at all.
